It can also be used to make inkstones (General Catalog of Stones in *Bencao Gangmu*). [Origin] (*Guo Xian's Dongming Ji* states): The state of Zhizhi presented 100 pieces of Maligan Shi. [Collection/Storage] Stored in a gold box with mercury for nourishment. [Usage] Wiping white hair turns it black instantly. [Texture] Like horse liver. [Color] Dark green-black.
Zhuya Shi (Pig Tooth Stone) primarily brightens the eyes and removes nebulae (General Catalog of Stones in *Bencao Gangmu*). [Origin] Li Shizhen states it originates from Xifan (Western Regions). [Texture] Grain resembles ivory. [Color] Red like jujube.
Bixia Shi (Jade Cloud Stone) primarily brightens the eyes and removes visual obstructions (General Catalog of Stones in *Bencao Gangmu*).
Longxian Shi (Dragon Saliva Stone) primarily treats severe leprosy and sores (General Catalog of Stones in *Bencao Gangmu*). [Name] Li Shizhen states it is also called Longxian Shi (Dragon Immortal Stone). [Origin] Those produced in Qizhou are of superior quality.
Qianguang Shi (Lead Luster Stone) primarily treats bone diseases (General Catalog of Stones in *Bencao Gangmu*).
Taiyang Shi (Sun Stone) primarily treats various eye diseases (General Catalog of Stones in *Bencao Gangmu*). [Prescription/Treatment] Liu Shouzhen's *Xuanming Fang*: To treat all eye diseases, both chronic and recent, use Taiyang Shi, Taiyin Shi, Bixia Shi, Zhuya Shi, Heluo Shi, Hanshui Shi, Zishiyang (Purple Quartz), Daizheshi (Ochre), Pusa Shi (Bodhisattva Stone), Jingjinshi (Gold Essence Stone), Jingyinshi (Silver Essence Stone), Yuyushishi (Yuyu Grain Stone), Fankuangshi (Alum Ore), Yunmushi (Mica), Luganshi (Calamine), Jingquanshi (Well Spring Stone), Yangqishi (Yangqi Stone), Huashi (Talc), Ouzeigu (Cuttlefish Bone), Qingyan (Green Salt), Tongqing (Copper Verdigris), each 1 liang; Naosha (Sal Ammoniac) 0.5 liang; Miduoseng (Litharge) 1 liang; Pengsha (Borax) 3 qian; Ruxiang (Frankincense) 2 qian; Shexiang (Musk) and Naozi (Camphor) 1 qian each; Qingfen (Calomel) 1.5 qian; Huangdan (Red Lead) 4 liang. Grind each into powder. Add Xiongdan (Bear Gallbladder) 1 jin, Baishami (White Sand Honey) 2 jin, and Jinhua Shui (First Draw Well Water) 9 bowls. Simmer together until reduced to 4 bowls. Test by dripping into water; if it does not disperse, it is ready. Filter and store. Many stones used in this prescription, such as Taiyang Shi and Taiyin Shi, cannot be verified; left for experts to clarify.
Duotiya (Duotiya) primarily brightens the eyes and removes nebulae (General Catalog of Stones in *Bencao Gangmu*). [Prescription/Treatment] Zhou Xianwang's *Puji Fang*: To treat eye conditions and remove nebulae, use Duotiya processed by water levigation, Huohai Daluo (Fire Sea Large Conch), and Wang Tangshuang (Bowl Rock Sugar), ground into powder, applied to the eyes daily. Another formula uses Keteci 1 qian, Afeiyong 1 qian, Lizishu Jiao (Plum Tree Gum) 4 qian, Baixuefen 8 qian, ground into powder, mixed with egg white to form pills, applied using mother's milk for grinding. Another formula uses Anzalu (from Huihui lands), Heidingxiang (Black Clove, i.e., Wax Feces, Haopiaoxiao/Cuttlefish Bone), ground separately into powder, applied to the eyes. The substances referred to as Duotiya, Wang Tangshuang, Anzalu, Keteci, and Afeiyong are unknown; attached here for reference and awaiting expert verification.
