取，他处不复识之矣。齐州仅一土山，石出其中，彼人谓之阳起山。其山常有暖气，虽盛冬
大雪遍境，独此山无积白。盖石气薰蒸使然也。山唯一穴，官司常禁闭，每发冬初，州发丁
夫，遣人监取上供，岁月积久，其穴益深， 凿他石得之甚难。以白色明莹，云头雨脚轻松
，如野狼牙者为上。黄色者亦重，其上犹带云母者，绝品也。拣择供上，剩余者，州人方货之
，不尔，无由得也。置雪中倏然没迹者为真。画纸上于日下扬之飞举者，乃真佳也。）
阳起石者，此山之石，乃阳气之所起也，故大雪遍境，而山无积白。有形之石，阳气所

故置之雪中，倏然没迹，扬之日下，自能飞举。主治崩中漏下者，崩漏为阴，今随阳气而
上
升也。破子脏中血，及症瘕结气者，阳长阴消，阳气透发，则症结破散矣。妇人月事不以
时下，则寒热腹痛而无子。阳起石贞下启元，阴中有阳，阴阳和而寒热除，月事调而生息繁
矣。男子精虚，则阴痿不起。阳起石助阴中之阳，故治阴痿不起，而补肾精之不足。

[Indications] Treats metrorrhagia and metrostaxis (heavy bleeding or prolonged spotting between periods), breaks down blood stasis in the uterus, dissipates masses and qi stagnation (abdominal lumps and qi constraint), alleviates abdominal pain and infertility caused by alternating cold and heat, treats impotence with inability to erect, and tonifies deficiencies.
(Yangqishi [Calcis Silicatis] is the root of Muscovite Mica. It originates from Qishan Mountain in Qizhou, as well as valleys in Lushan, Mount Tai, Yunshan, Yizhou, and Langya. Currently, only Qizhou mines it; its existence is no longer recognized elsewhere. Qizhou has only one earthen mountain where the stone is found, locally called Yangqi Mountain. This mountain constantly emits warmth; even in mid-winter when heavy snow covers the entire region, this mountain alone remains free of accumulated snow. This is due to the steaming effect of the stone's qi. There is only one mine shaft on the mountain, which was often sealed and forbidden by the government. Every early winter, the prefecture conscripted laborers and sent supervisors to extract it for tribute. Over the years, the shaft became deeper, making it very difficult to quarry it from other stones. The best quality is white, bright, and crystal clear, with textures resembling cloud heads and rain feet that are light and airy, shaped like wild wolf teeth. Yellow ones are also valued; those still retaining muscovite mica on them are considered supreme grade. After selecting the best for tribute, the remainder was sold by locals; otherwise, it could not be obtained. The authentic variety disappears instantly when placed in snow; if drawn on paper and shaken under sunlight, causing it to fly up, it is truly excellent.)
Yangqishi is the stone of this mountain, a place where yang qi arises; hence, while snow covers the surroundings, the mountain remains snow-free. As a tangible stone, it concentrates yang qi; thus, when placed in snow, it vanishes instantly, and under sunlight, it naturally lifts and flies. Its indication for metrorrhagia and metrostaxis addresses these conditions, which belong to yin pathology, now ascending along with yang qi. By breaking down uterine blood stasis and dissipating masses and qi stagnation, it operates through the principle that as yang grows, yin diminishes; when yang qi penetrates and emerges, the pathological knots break and disperse. When women’s menstruation does not arrive on time, it results in alternating cold and heat, abdominal pain, and infertility. Yangqishi stabilizes the lower origin and initiates new beginnings; containing yang within yin, it harmonizes yin and yang, eliminating alternating cold and heat, regulating menstruation, and promoting fertility. In men, deficiency of essence leads to impotence with inability to erect. Yangqishi assists the yang within yin; therefore, it treats impotence and tonifies the insufficiency of kidney essence.
