专理痈毒，兼疗惊痫。唇疔咽烂，蛇咬火丹。
一名重楼金线。歌云∶七叶一枝花，深山是我家。痈疽如遇此，一似手拈拿。
此药是百合科植物，市售品种混乱。北方多以拳参充代，万不可混用。
蚤休，中病即止，不宜多服。
味苦、辛，性寒。入心，肺、肝三经。
疔疮痈疖，无名肿毒。咽喉谷贼，嚼咽清肃。
此药清解热毒，内服多效，亦可捣烂外敷。
味微苦，性凉。
清解热毒，活血去瘀。治疔毒散黄，涂跌仆蛇伤。
此草亦治咽喉肿痛，兼溃烂者宜用之。
味辛、甘、苦，性微寒，无毒。入心、肺二经。
散热解毒，除湿医疡。身肿发无定处，流火流注堪尝。风湿热痹，疔疮散黄。伍甘草与
好酒
，对口发背均治。上方制以为丸，消渴成痈可防。喉蛾 腮，口舌生疮。
此藤与花相同，亦能除胀治痢。
一名黄花地丁。味甘，性平，无毒。入脾、胃二经。
化热毒，解食毒，治 腮疔疮，消乳痈瘰 。
乳痈同银花煎，入酒服。茎中白汁，涂恶刺。
东垣曰∶“苦寒入肾，肾经必用之药”。故本草载其有乌须发之功，何以世人罕用也。
味甘、辛，性平，有小毒。入胃经。
痈疽疔毒酒煎服。瘰 疮痍醋拌涂。治毒蛇狂犬之伤，傅粉滓斑点之面。
寒凉之品，不得过服。

Specializes in treating carbuncles and toxic sores, and concurrently treats convulsions and epilepsy. For lip carbuncles, throat ulceration, snake bites, and erysipelas (fire blisters).
Also known as Chonglou Jinxian. The rhyme goes: "Seven leaves, one flower; deep in the mountains is my home. If carbuncles and ulcers encounter this herb, it is as easy as picking them up by hand."
This herb belongs to the Liliaceae family. The varieties sold in the market are confused. In northern regions, Polygonum bistorta (Quanshen, 拳参) is often used as a substitute, which must never be mixed or confused with this herb.
Zaoxiu (Paris polyphylla), stop taking once the disease is cured; do not take in large doses for long periods.
Taste: Bitter, Acrid. Nature: Cold. Meridian Tropism: Heart, Lung, Liver.
Treats carbuncles, furuncles, and unnameable swelling/toxins. For sore throat and tonsillitis (Guzei), chewing and swallowing clears and purifies the heat-toxin.
This herb clears heat and resolves toxicity. Internal administration is effective; it can also be crushed and applied externally.
Taste: Slightly Bitter. Nature: Cool.
Clears heat and resolves toxicity, invigorates blood and removes stasis. Treats carbuncle toxins and yellow discharge; apply to traumatic injuries and snake bites.
This herb also treats sore throat and swelling; it is suitable for cases accompanied by ulceration.
Taste: Acrid, Sweet, Bitter. Nature: Slightly Cold. Non-toxic. Meridian Tropism: Heart, Lung.
Disperses heat and resolves toxicity, eliminates dampness and treats ulcers. For body swelling with undefined locations, and flowing fire/flowing abscesses, it can be tried. For wind-damp-heat bi syndrome, carbuncle toxins, and yellow discharge. Combined with Licorice Root (Gancao, 甘草) and good wine, it treats facial carbuncles (Duikou) and back carbuncles (Fabei). Prepared into pills from the above formula, it can prevent carbuncles arising from Xiao Ke (Wasting-Thirst). For throat polyps (Houe), mumps (Saixue), and mouth/tongue sores.
The vine and flower have the same efficacy; they can also reduce distension and treat dysentery.
Also known as Huanghua Diding. Taste: Sweet. Nature: Neutral. Non-toxic. Meridian Tropism: Spleen, Stomach.
Transforms heat-toxin, resolves food-toxin, treats mumps and carbuncles, and eliminates breast abscesses and scrofula (Luoli).
For breast abscesses, decoct together with Honeysuckle Flower (Yinhua, 银花) and take with wine. The white juice from the stem applies to thorns/stings.
Li Dongyuan said: "Bitter and cold enters the Kidney channel; it is an essential herb for the Kidney meridian." Therefore, Materia Medica records its ability to darken hair, yet why do people rarely use it?
Taste: Sweet, Acrid. Nature: Neutral. Slightly toxic. Meridian Tropism: Stomach.
For carbuncles, ulcers, and carbuncle toxins, decoct with wine. For scrofula and skin sores, mix with vinegar and apply. Treats snake and rabid dog bites; applying powder residue removes facial spots.
Being a cold-natured substance, do not take in excess.
