[Root Bark] [Scent and Flavor]

For all these conditions, drink the concentrated decoction.
[Scent and Flavor]
Astringent and sweet, neutral in nature, non-toxic.
[Indications]
Treats five types of hemorrhoids, gu poison, feishi (flying corpse syndrome), and sore throat obstruction. Grind the seeds into powder, lightly roast, and take one or two bi (an ancient unit of measure) with water. Can also be used with soybeans for bathing the face to remove dirt. Treats pediatric rectal prolapse, bloody dysentery, and bleeding diarrhea; all are treated by taking the burnt ash. Alternatively, take one fruit, cut open the pulp, roast, and grind into powder. Take two qian with warm wine on an empty stomach. Effect is guaranteed within three doses. Resolves toxicity of various medicines.
[Root] [Scent and Flavor]
Bitter, neutral in nature, non-toxic.

Treats swelling and pain in the female vagina, and red and white leukorrhea. Kills fire toxins. Treats back carbuncles (*Fabai*), scrofula, facial sores, intestinal wind hemorrhoids, bloody dysentery, knife and arrow wounds, and traumatic injuries. Promotes tissue regeneration and relieves pain. Resolves the toxicity of *Yelangdu*. Additionally, fresh root crushed and applied externally is effective for carbuncles. Modern physicians often use it for wind disorders and metallic wounds, frequently in combination with *Baiji* (Rhizoma Bletillae).
[Root] [Scent and Flavor]
Bitter, neutral in nature, non-toxic.
[Indications]
Treats various malignant swellings, sores, sore throat obstruction, snake bites, and dog bite poisoning. Crushed and taken with water, or held in the mouth and applied topically. Cools blood and descends fire. Reduces goiters and detoxifies.
[Leaves and Flowers] [Scent and Flavor]
Slightly pungent, neutral in nature, non-toxic.
[Indications]
Clears the lungs, cools blood, dissipates heat, and detoxifies. Treats all kinds of minor and major carbuncles, sores, swellings, toxins, and malignant ulcers. Reduces swelling, discharges pus, and relieves pain. The flowers and leaves of *Furong* have a neutral nature, neither cold nor hot. Their flavor is slightly pungent, and their nature is slippery, containing viscous saliva-like mucus. Their efficacy in treating carbuncles is particularly miraculous. In recent times, surgeons have secretly named preparations made from this herb "Qingliang Gao" (Cooling Ointment), "Qinglu San" (Clear Dew Powder), and "Tiegu San" (Iron Hoof Powder), all referring to this material. These formulas treat all carbuncles, back sores, breast abscesses, and malignant ulcers, regardless of whether they have formed pus or ruptured. Use *Furong* leaves, root bark, or flowers, either freshly crushed or dried and powdered. Mix with honey and apply around the periphery of the swelling, leaving the center (the head of the sore) open. Change frequently when dry. For early-stage lesions, a cooling sensation is felt immediately, pain stops, and swelling subsides. For established lesions, pus gathers and toxins exit. For ruptured lesions, pus drains easily and healing occurs. The effect is indescribably wonderful. Adding powder of fresh *Chixiaodou* (Adzuki Bean) is especially effective.
