Cold deficiency in the lower jiao of both men and women. Exhaustion of kidney qi. Long-standing coldness of the uterus. It is a drug acting on the qi aspect of the right kidney and Mingmen (Gate of Vitality). It is suitable for those with cold deficiency in the lower jiao. It must be used after being processed by water levigation (shui fei). All mineral drugs, whether cold or hot in nature, possess toxicity; dosage must be carefully considered. Even when used, it is not a medicine for long-term consumption.
(When using this herb, first remove the rootlets. Those that are white like raw silk are called "White Ram's Beard Grass" (Baiyangxu Cao), which has different properties. Remove the head and soil before use. Wash clean with flowing water from the east. Soak in honey overnight. The next day, dry-roast over fire. Use two parts of honey for one tael of the herb.)

Cough with rebellious qi. Cold-heat knotted qi in the chest. Gu poison and flaccidity syndromes. Calms the five zang organs. Treats coughing up pus and blood. Stops wheezing, palpitations, five labors, and body deficiency. Supplements insufficiency. Treats pediatric convulsions and epilepsy. Treats shizhu (chronic wasting disease associated with tuberculosis or spiritual factors). Tonifies deficiency and directs qi downward. Treats deficiency heat due to labor injury. Repels various evil spirits and malefic influences. Regulates the middle jiao and resolves phlegm. Relieves thirst and moistens skin. Augments marrow. Benefits vessel qi. Mainly treats xiben (lung accumulation).
Aversion: Tianxiong (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata), Qumai (Herba Dianthi), Bencao (Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong? Note: Text says 'Ben', likely Gaoben/Ligusticum sinense), Leiwan (Sclerotium Polypori), Yuanzhi (Radix Polygalae).
Fear: Yichen (Herba Artemisiae Scopariae).

Treats liver heat and improves vision. Treats all kinds of wind pathogens. Fills the marrow. Warms the waist and feet. Treats luoli (scrofula), sores, scabies, and itching. Roast until fragrant, soak in wine, and take. Dispels wind and tonifies.
Contraindications: Pork, horse meat, rice wash water (are harmful).
(After harvesting, remove stems and leaves, using only the fruit. Wipe clean with cloth to remove the thin shell. Mix with wine, steam from Si hour (9-11 AM) to Shen hour (3-7 PM). Sun-dry and use.)

Unblocks menstrual obstructions in women. Stops cholera-like watery diarrhea. Treats hematuria in children. Fresh material should be ground into powder and taken.
