(A-Jing Water) Sweet and salty, neutral in nature. It descends to the diaphragm, disperses phlegm, and stops vomiting. A-Jing is located in Yanggu County, Yanzhou Prefecture, which was ancient Dong'e County. There is also Fan Gong Spring in Qingzhou. Water from these sources is used to make White Pills (Bai Wan Zi), which benefits the diaphragm and transforms phlegm.
(Mountain Rock Spring Water) Sweet, neutral in nature. It treats cholera with symptoms of restlessness, vomiting, abdominal pain, and muscle cramps. To prevent pathogenic factors from entering the abdomen, it should be taken in large quantities. This is spring water emerging from crevices in mountain rocks, flowing into streams and ravines. However, Lu Yu stated in his *Classic of Tea*: "Water that rushes and churns violently, if drunk, causes neck diseases." Wang Ying said: "Once in Xunyang, suddenly hundreds of horses died in the city. Upon inquiry, it was learned that a few days prior, rain had washed out toxins from snakes and insects in the valleys, and the horses drank this water." From this, we can see how careful one must be when using mountain rock spring water.
(Salty, slightly warm, slightly toxic) Salty, slightly warm, with slight toxicity. Boiling for bathing removes wind-induced itching and tinea. Drinking one he (a unit of volume) induces vomiting and purging of retained food and relieves head distension.
(Tu Jiang / Earth Slurry) Sweet, cold in nature. It treats dysentery and diarrhea of both cold and hot types, presenting as red or white discharge; it addresses heat-toxin-induced colic in the abdomen. It resolves all toxins from fish, meat, vegetables, fruits, medicines, and various fungi, as well as cases where centipedes or similar insects have entered the abdomen, using this method to expel them. For those who have suffered sudden death, take hot soil from the road, surround the umbilicus with it, and have someone urinate into the center. Then, mix equal parts of hot soil and garlic, pound into powder, filter out the dregs, and administer via enema or灌服 to restore life. Also known as Tu Jiang. It is prepared by pouring newly drawn water onto yellow earth, stirring until turbid, and then allowing it to settle and clarifying.
(Hot Water / Boiling Water) Assists yang and promotes qi circulation. If consumed before reaching a full boil, it反而 damages primordial qi and causes distension. When a snake coils around and cannot be untied, pouring hot water over it causes immediate detachment. In cases of sudden death due to adverse qi invasion, fill a copper or earthenware vessel with hot water, place a cloth barrier, and apply heat compresses to the abdomen. For sudden severe heart and abdominal pain nearing death, soak hands and feet in it; replace with fresh hot water when it cools down. Also known as Taihe Tang, also known as Ma Fei Tang.
(Sheng Shu Tang / Raw and Cooked Water Mixture) Harmonizes the middle jiao and aids digestion. It treats cholera with vomiting and diarrhea. If pathogenic factors are in the upper jiao, vomiting occurs; if in the lower jiao, diarrhea occurs; if in the middle jiao, vomiting and diarrhea occur simultaneously. This type of damp cholera is relatively easy to treat. However, cases characterized by severe heart and abdominal colic without the ability to vomit or defecate are called Dry Cholera, commonly known as Intestinal Cramping Sha (Jiao Chang Sha), which leads to rapid death. Ancient formulas recommend frying salt until hot, mixing with child's urine (Tong Bian), and administering orally for stability. Do not provide grain food; even sipping rice water will cause death. Mix one cup of newly drawn water with one cup of fully boiled water evenly. (It is essential to use river water).
