[Processing Methods]
Remove the outer skin and umbilicus, soak in hot water for use; or wrap in wet paper and bake in sugar. *Xueqi* (Herba Descurainiae) is used as a guiding drug; it is incompatible with *Mangcao* (Radix Aconiti).
[Properties, Flavors, Meridian Tropism, and Efficacy]
Pungent, bitter, greatly warm, toxic. Enters the Liver, Spleen, and Kidney meridians. Treats numbness and paralysis caused by Wind-Stroke; eliminates phlegm-saliva during Wind-Epilepsy attacks. Reduces carbuncles and swellings, dissipates blood stasis, breaks down hard accumulations, and can induce abortion (contraindicated in pregnancy). Treats blood stasis from metal wounds and fractures; eliminates disorders such as trismus (lockjaw) and facial deviation. When combined with *Fangfeng* (Radix Saposhnikoviae), it does not cause numbness; when combined with ox bile, it is not drying; when processed with fire, its toxicity is reduced. Mix ox bile evenly into Arisaema, hang in a ventilated place to dry, which becomes Danxing (Gallbladder Arisaema).
[Origin and Morphology]
Produced in Hanzhong and Yuanju regions. Roots are harvested in the second and eighth lunar months. Currently, they are also found in various prefectures of Hebei Province. Newly grown roots are bean-sized, gradually enlarging to resemble Banxia (Rhizoma Pinelliae) but flatter. Older roots are round, about one cun in diameter, with large ones the size of a chicken egg, surrounded by round buds. Seedlings emerge in the fourth month, growing over one chi tall. The single stem bears leaves like claws; a cluster produces seven or eight stems, occasionally sending out one stem to form a spike.
[Formulas and Applications]
For all metal wounds and fractures, combine with Fangfeng, grind into powder, apply externally or take internally. (Verified Formula 1.)
For Tetanus and Wind-Stroke. Use the same method. (Formula 2.)
For various cases of trismus, combine with Shengjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens) and Ziye (Folium Perillae), add a small amount of ox bile, decoct in water, and take orally. (Formula 3.)
For trismus: Roast one piece until done, wrap diagonally in paper, cut small holes for ventilation to allow medicinal qi to enter the mouth, and the jaw will naturally open. (Formula 4.)
For infantile convulsions: Combine with Chencha powder (Cinnabar powder), administer with Jingjie decoction (Decoction of Herba Schizonepetae). (Formula 5.)
For Wind-Epilepsy with phlegm confusing the mind: Make pills with Ginger juice, administer with Ginseng decoction. (Formula 6.)
For infants who cannot speak after epilepsy: Grind into powder, mix and take with Pig Gallbladder juice. (Formula 7.)

For Wind-Phlegm headache: Combine with Jingjie leaves, make pills with Ginger juice, and take orally. (Formula 10.)
For dizziness, vertigo, and vomiting: Combine with Banxia (Rhizoma Pinelliae) and Tianma (Rhizoma Gastrodiae), double the amount of white flour, make water pills the size of beans, take thirty pills each time, and boil the pills before consumption. (Formula 11.)
For early-stage Wind-Stroke or Qi obstruction: Add a small amount of Muxiang (Radix Aucklandiae), decoct in water with ginger, and take orally. (Formula 12.)
For right arm pain due to Phlegm-Dampness: Combine with Shengjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens) and Cangzhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis), make pills, and take orally. (Formula 13.)
For Qi-Phlegm cough: Combine with Banxia (Rhizoma Pinelliae) and Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae), make pills with water and ginger. Suitable for those with a surging pulse at the Cun position. (Formula 14.)
For temporomandibular joint dislocation: Grind into powder, mix with Ginger juice, apply to both cheeks, and reduce after one night. (Formula 15.)

Wait until Realgar melts into liquid, cover with a cup to seal, remove fire toxicity, grind into powder, add a small amount of Shexiang (Moschus), and sweep onto the wound. It heals in a few days. (Formula 18.)
