[Indications] Tonifies the Middle Jiao (Middle Burner), benefits Qi, calms the Mind, stabilizes the Gallbladder, resolves abdominal distension and heart pain, stops coughing, moistens the Lungs, clears Heat, treats body edema, mania, palpitations due to fright, Hong Kong Foot (Gouty Arthritis/Tinea Pedis), Bi Syndrome (Obstruction Syndrome), hematemesis, postpartum blood syncope in women, difficult lactation, breast carbuncle, sores, swelling, hypochondriac abscess, and back carbuncle.
Baihe Dihuang Tang (Lily Bulb and Rehmannia Decoction): Baihe (Lily Bulb) 7 pieces, Shengdizhi (Fresh Juice of Rehmanniae Radix) 1 sheng. Wash the Baihe, soak overnight, discard the water, add 2 sheng of fresh water, decoct to obtain 1 sheng. Strain the dregs. Add the Shengdizhi, continue decocting to obtain 1 sheng and 5 he. Take half warm, twice. Treats Baihe Bing (Lily Disease) where symptoms remain unchanged after improper use of emetic, purgative, or diaphoretic methods.
Baihe Zhimu Tang (Lily Bulb and Anemarrhena Decoction): Baihe (split open) 10 pieces, Zhimu (cut into slices) 3 liang. Wash the Baihe, soak overnight. Change to 2 sheng of water, decoct to obtain 1 sheng. Strain the dregs. Separately decoct Zhimu in 2 sheng of water to obtain 1 sheng. Strain the dregs. Combine the two decoctions, decoct again to obtain 1 sheng and 5 he. Take half warm, twice. Treats Baihe Bing presenting with deficiency and insufficiency after sweating therapy.
Baihe Gujin Wan (Lily Bulb to Solidify the Kidney Pill): Baihe, Chao Shaoyao (Stir-fried Paeoniae Radix Alba), Danggui, Beimu, Sheng Cao (Raw Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) each 1 qian; Shengdi (Rehmanniae Radix) 2 qian; Shudi (Prepared Rehmanniae Radix) 3 qian; Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix) 1 qian 5 fen. (Note: The original text contains "Xuan" which is incomplete; standard formula includes Xuanshen). Baihe 7 pieces, Huashi (Talcum) 3 liang (crushed, wrapped in cotton cloth), Daizheshi (Haematitum) 1 piece (size of a bullet, crushed, wrapped in cotton cloth). Wash the Baihe, soak overnight, change to 2 sheng of water, decoct to obtain 1 sheng. Strain the dregs. Separately decoct the two stones (Huashi and Daizheshi) in 2 sheng of water to obtain 1 sheng. Strain the dregs. Combine the decoctions, decoct again to obtain 1 sheng and 5 he. Take 5 he warm. Treats Baihe Bing after improper purgation. Another powder formula: Zhi Baihe (Roasted Lily Bulb) 1 liang, Huashi 3 liang. Grind into fine powder. Each dose is one Fangcunbi (a square-inch measure), taken with rice drink, three times daily. Treats Baihe Bing with fever and slight diarrhea; stop taking when heat subsides and diarrhea stops.
Baihe Jizi Huang Tang (Lily Bulb and Egg Yolk Decoction): Baihe 7 pieces (split open), Ji Zi Huang (Egg Yolk) 1 piece. Boil the Baihe as previously described to obtain a certain amount of decoction. Add the egg yolk, stir evenly, simmer until reduced to five fen (approx. half volume), take warm. Treats Baihe Bing with stomach disharmony after vomiting.
Baihe San (Lily Bulb Powder): Baihe (steamed), Zicao Rong (Gardenia Flower Floss/Castor Oil Plant root? Context suggests Zicao), Chi Ling (Polyporus Umbellatus), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, stir-fried), Qianhu (Peucedani Radix), Beimu (Fritillariae Bulbus) each 1 qian 5 fen; Zhi Cao (Honey-processed Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) 5 fen. Use 2 zhong of water, add 5 slices of Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger), decoct to 1 zhong and take. Treats wind-phlegm obstruction causing cough with excessive phlegm, wheezing, and chest fullness. Another prescription: Baihe and Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex) each 1 qian, Baiji (Bletillae Rhizoma) 2 qian 5 fen, Bimazi (Ricini Semen) 50 grains. Grind into a paste for external application, 3-4 times daily. Treats sores on the chin and jaw. Another prescription: Baihe, Chuanxiong, Chi Shao (Red Peony Root), Danggui, Shengdi, Ce Bai Ye (Biota Tops, stir-fried), Jingjie (Schizonepetae Herba), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix, stir-fried), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus), Yujin (Curcumae Radix), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma). Decoct in water, mix with Tong Bian (Child's Urine) and take. Treats traumatic injuries where stagnant blood flows into the Stomach causing vomiting of black blood juice; remove Dahuang if bowel movements are unobstructed.
Baihe Tang (Lily Bulb Decoction): Baihe, Chi Ling, Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Zisu Jingye (Perillae Caulis et Folium), Renshen (Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma), Dafupi (Arecae Pericarpium), Zhuling (Polyporus), Sangbaipipi (Mori Cortex), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus, bran-fried), Maidong, Zhi Cao each 1 liang; Madouling (Aristolochiae Radix) 7 pieces. Coarsely crush. Each dose is 4 qian, use 1.5 zhan of water, add a piece of Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger) the size of a jujube, decoct to appropriate concentration. Treats Qi stagnation and obstruction, cough, irritability, discomfort in the epigastrium and diaphragm, thirst, swelling of waist and knees, and dysuria. Another prescription: Baihe, Danggui, Baishao, Jingjie each 2 qian. Decoct in water and take. Treats vomiting.
Baihe Gao (Lily Bulb Paste): Baihe 1 liang, Puxiao (Natrii Sulfas), Xingren (Pruni Semen), Sang [Ye/Pi] [Amount missing in text]. Grind into fine powder, make pills with honey the size of millet seeds. Each dose is 10 pills, taken with rice drink. Adjust dosage according to the child's age. It can moisten the intestines and remove accumulation.
