Also known as Disumu. Guoshanlong. Fengche Cao. This is *Rubia cordifolia* (Qiancao) produced in the south. Leaves gather in clusters of four or five at the nodes, growing on square, flexible, creeping stems with rough, prickly bark that irritates fingers. A single stem grows upright for one to two chi before branching. Leaves are arrowhead-shaped; when blown by the wind, they rotate like a wheel, hence the name.
Also called Baxian Cao, because leaves grow opposite in clusters among branches and leaves. The root is yellow-red, cannot be dyed, and is also known as Huoxue Dan. *Baicaojing* states: This plant fruits in autumn, with seeds small like paulownia seeds; it withers after fruiting and sprouts after Lixia (Start of Summer).
