The method for extracting oil: Select old pine firewood containing resin, cut it into segments two to three cun long, split them into strands as thick as lamp wicks, and bind them into a bundle with hemp thread, with a diameter similar to that of a teacup. Prepare a water basin filled halfway with water, place a bowl inside the basin, cover the bowl with a mat, and dig a hole in the center of the mat the size of a coin. Insert the bound pine bundle vertically into the hole in the mat. Ignite the top. After a short while, cover the surroundings thoroughly with stove ash from top to bottom to prevent smoke leakage; if smoke escapes, no oil will be obtained. Allow it to cool and settle for one or two shichen (2-4 hours). The oil will drip completely into the bowl. Remove the ash and mat, and take out the oil for use. This oil is also known as "Li You" (Dripping Oil).
It treats chronic scabies that has persisted for a long time and resisted all other medicines. Apply this oil after a fresh bath, or mix with a small amount of alum powder for application, which is even more effective.
This refers to the cake residue of Camellia oleifera oil. In Henan, Fujian, and Guangdong provinces, people consume tea oil but are unaware that it is actually Camellia oleifera oil; colloquially called tea oil, it is not derived from Camellia sinensis seeds. If not cooked thoroughly, ingestion causes diarrhea. Its taste is sweet, nature is cool, odor is fishy, and color is green. It moistens the intestines, clears the stomach, kills parasites, and detoxifies. It should not be eaten raw. Burning it for lamps benefits the eyes, and applying it to hair helps resolve hair loss issues.
*Yao Xing Kao* states: The cake residue can be used for washing clothes, removing dirt most cleanly; burned to ash and applied to sores, it can also eliminate accumulation; washed with bark and leaves to treat wind-induced itching.
*Jing Yan Guang Ji* records a method for extracting fir wood oil: Cover the mouth of a bowl with paper, pile fir wood shavings on top of the bowl, and place burning charcoal on the top of the shavings to ignite them. When the fire is about to reach the paper, immediately wipe it away with iron chopsticks. Repeat this several times. Open the bowl to find oil juice inside.
To treat all types of stubborn tinea (ringworm), first scrape the affected area with pangolin scales, then apply the oil using a soft wool brush. It causes severe pain initially; wait half a day before reapplying. The tinea will naturally form a scab and heal. If the skin is already broken, do not scrape. There are many remedies for tinea, none as miraculous as this true divine prescription.
Willow branches from dead willow trees inserted under eaves on Qingming Festival, facing south, are used in medicine. *Wu Lei Xiang Gan Zhi* notes: Willow and catkins during Qingming can prevent soy sauce and vinegar from becoming damp and overflowing. *Tian Chuang Ji Shi Liang Fang* uses one qian of willow branches inserted during Qingming (charred but retaining substance), seven fen of silver cinnabar, ground together, plus one fen of sublimated alum, applied externally.
*Xiao Er Tai Huo Bu Niao Ji Ji Fang*: For newborn infants unable to urinate, caused by untransformed heat toxins in the womb, cold and mineral-based medicines should not be used. Instead, take a handful of willow branches inserted under eaves facing south on Qingming Festival, decoct in water, and administer orally to induce urination. It is also effective for adults with urinary retention.
Treatment for urinary obstruction, *Zhou Zi Xiang Fang*: Use a large bunch of dead willow branches inserted under eaves on Qingming Festival, break and crush them, decoct in water, pour into a sitz bath tub, and fumigate the perineal area while sitting. Urination usually resumes shortly after, followed by oral administration.
Leukorrhea (*Bai Zhuo*): Lu Fu's *Zhi Yuan Yi Cao*: Decoct willow twigs inserted on Qingming Festival to treat leukorrhea. This is because discharge originates from the Liver meridian, and willow belongs to Wood (Mao branch), sharing the same elemental nature; the turbid color corresponds to the clear energy of Qingming, making the herbal selection apt.
Diarrhea resulting in excrement resembling pickled fish water is a critical condition. *Ci Hui Xiao Bian*: Decoct leaves from willow branches inserted under eaves by households during Qingming Festival. If the diarrheic excretion stops after taking this, the patient can be saved. This condition occurring shortly after onset, characterized by pickled-fish-like stool, is curable in young patients but difficult in the elderly. Young patients often suffer from labor-induced injury where muscle transforms into bloody fluid; mild regulation can recover 20-30% of vitality. Elderly patients have long-standing Qi and Blood deficiency, leading to this syndrome, which is difficult even for immortals to cure.
