This refers to leftover tea that has been soaked and stored in a porcelain jar. If it dries out, add the residue of the leftover tea juice; the longer it is stored, the better.

The best comes from Longjing in Hangzhou. Lianxin tea is first rate, Qiqiang tea is second. Locals pick and process the tea before Grain Rain (*Guyu*, 谷雨), hence the name. Aged tea older than three years is used for medicinal purposes. It clears the throat, brightens the eyes, tonifies primordial Qi (*Yuanshen*, 元气), benefits the heart and mind, opens the seven orifices. Its nature is cold but not harsh; because its taste is sweet, it benefits the Spleen/Stomach (*Pi Wei*, 脾胃); its resolving action is not severe because it possesses the Qi of early spring. It resolves retained food, directs Qi downward, eliminates belching, and clears Fire (*Huo*, 火) from the Six Meridians (*Liujing*, 六经).
