Also known as Sheepskin Gold, produced in Guangdong. It is sold in all gold leaf shops and is called "Pijin Paper" (Skin Gold Paper).
It treats contusions, abrasions, heel injuries caused by nail-shoes, chronic intertrigo with friction pain, and frostbite causing heel ulceration with fluid discharge. It is effective for minor abrasions or cuts presenting with swelling, ulceration, redness, shiny skin, and moisture; cut the paper to the size of the affected area, apply the gold-leaf side to the wound, and it will heal overnight (from Mao Shihong's *Yangsheng Ji*).
*Bencao Gangmu* mentions Tung Oil Umbrella Paper, stating only that it treats yin sores caused by woodworms and carbuncles with pus discharge, without other therapeutic methods. These are supplemented here.
Emergency prescription for Herpes Zoster (Shingles): Burn old umbrella paper to ash while retaining its medicinal properties, grind into powder, mix with sesame oil, and apply to the affected area.
Prescription for Carbuncle at the Back of Neck (Duikou Sore) by Master Zhu: Use light-bottomed white paper (one tael), burn old umbrella paper to ash (five qian). First, mash one tael of dark plum flesh, mix with the powder, add raw tung oil, and pound evenly. Apply to the affected area until gradual healing occurs.
Immediate Effect Prescription for Back Carbuncle (Fabei) from Zhou Family Treasure: Three qian of thousand-year calcined stone (ground into fine powder, fried in an iron spoon until purple, poured onto a brick, allowed to cool slightly until faintly warm, not too cold or hot). Two qian of large Chuanxiong rhizome ground into fine powder. Mix evenly, add five or six drops of true sesame oil, and take mixed with well water or river water. The condition will dissipate after profuse sweating over the whole body. If encountering malignant sores, add three fen of black umbrella paper ash and administer as before.
Sore Treatment by Cai Yujin: Use old umbrellas used by others to cover walls, preferably those exposed to frost and snow for many years. Cut the umbrella canopy to fit the sore, prick holes with a wooden needle, paste for three days, then replace with another sheet. Change daily; paste three sheets in total for cure. Jiting Prescription: For sores, grind calomel and pig marrow evenly, spread on old umbrella paper, and apply. Zhou Family Treasure: Various plasters for sores such as Interposed Paper Plaster, Experienced Sore Plaster, Interposed Paper Plaster, and Body-Interposed Plaster all use old umbrella paper sandwiching medicine for application.
This is the thick white outer layer paper used in tobacco shops to wrap tobacco. It is manufactured by soaking in a lime pit, retains alkaline residue, and lacks toughness; it is only suitable for wrapping tobacco and is named Jian Paper. In recent times, opium smokers use it to wipe the mouthpiece of opium pipes to make copper bright, and it can also be used to polish tinware. Zhu Xingshuangyan, a Jinshi from Wuyuan, stated: Officials in the North often store this paper. After morning washing, they wipe their faces with it. Over time, it turns dark complexion white and makes hair lustrous like jade.
Wiping the face removes darkness and sweat spots, beautifies the complexion, and enhances radiance.
