Produced in Guangdong. It has a chicken head and a crow's beak, yellow feathers, pure black down on the abdomen, long tail drooping downwards, and its cry is "huo huo". This is the gallbladder of the filial crow, most abundant in eastern Zhejiang, all fat, black, and large, found everywhere. My disciple Xu Penggui from Fenghua resides in Baiyan, where mountains are remote, paths secluded, and ancient trees dense. He said locals collect crow gallbladders. Crow gallbladder juice disperses to the body and eyes during the day, allowing essence to gather and see objects beyond smoke and clouds; at night, the juice returns to the gallbladder. The method of extraction: wait for the crow to sleep at night, take advantage of its unawareness, sever its head with a sharp knife, quickly open the abdomen to extract it. The gallbladder should be full of bile without leakage, then thread it through and dry in shade for medicinal use. If the method is improper or the crow is startled awake, even if killed and the gallbladder obtained, it will be an empty skin without juice, unusable.
It brightens the eyes and restores sight, surpassing Akitaka (Azurite) in efficacy, most verified for treating congenital blindness, and resolves Veratrum viride toxicity.
Excellent prescription for ulcerative blepharitis and visual obstruction without medication: Apply crow gallbladder to the eyes, and it heals immediately.
