[Names] Wudie Ni (*Bencao Gangmu*), Hai'er Cha (Child's Tea).
Li Shizhen states: "Wudie" is sometimes written as "Wuding"; both are transliterations from foreign languages without standard Chinese characters.
[Collection and Explanation] Li Shizhen states: Wudie Ni originates from foreign lands such as Java, Siam, and Laos, and is now also produced in Yunnan and other regions. It is said to be made by packing fine tea powder into bamboo tubes, sealing both ends tightly, burying them in muddy ditches for a long time, then retrieving them, crushing into juice, and boiling/concentrating. Those that are small and moist/lustrous are of superior quality; those that are large and scorched/dry are inferior.
[Properties and Flavors] Bitter, astringent, neutral in temperature, non-toxic.
[Indications] Clears heat from the upper jiao (chest and diaphragm), transforms phlegm, and generates fluids. Applied to traumatic wounds and all types of sores/ulcers, it promotes tissue regeneration, relieves pain, stops bleeding, and absorbs dampness (Li Shizhen).
