[Collected Explanations] Song said: Tianxian Teng (Aristolochia debilis Vine) grows in the mountains of Jianghuai and eastern Zhejiang. In spring, it produces seedlings and vines that extend as creepers. The leaves resemble those of Pueraria lobata (Kudzu), being round and small with white hairs on the surface.
[Aroma and Flavor] Bitter, warm, non-toxic.
[Indications] Resolves wind-lao (chronic fatigue due to wind-pathogen). When used together with Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba), it treats Shanghan (Cold Damage) and induces sweating. When used together with Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), it promotes abortion (Song). It moves Qi and invigorates blood, treating heart and abdominal [conditions].
[Attached Prescriptions] Six new prescriptions.

Pregnancy edema, starting from both feet and gradually progressing to panting and chest oppression, resembling water disease, with fluid exuding from toe nails, termed "Zi Qi" (Fetal Edema). This occurs because women have pre-existing wind pathogens or disharmony of the Chong and Ren vessels. Use Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) and Wuyao (Linderae Radix) in equal parts, grind into powder. Each dose is 3 qian, add one large cup of water, 3 slices of fresh ginger, 3 slices of Mugua (Chaenomelis Fructus), and 3 leaves of Zisu (Perillae Folium). Decoct until reduced to 70%, take on an empty stomach, three times a day. Once urination becomes smooth, Qi and pulses flow freely, and swelling gradually subsides, there is no need for excessive dosage. This is a secret formula of Chen Jingchu, a famous physician from Huainan, obtained from the Li Boshi family. (Chen Ziming *Fu Ren Liang Fang*)
Postpartum abdominal pain and Erzhen Tong (abdominal pain due to lochia stasis): Tianxian Teng 5 liang, stir-fried until charred and ground into powder. Each dose is 2 qian, taken mixed with stir-fried fresh ginger juice, child's urine, and fine wine. (*Jing Yan Fu Ren Fang*)
All types of blood-Qi abdominal pain: Use the above prescription, taken with warm wine.
Lung heat causing nasal debris/crusts: Add Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) powder to heated Tongyou (Verniciae Oleum), apply using Tianxian Teng heated oil externally. (*Zhai Xuan Fang*)
