[Names] Shitingzhi (Stone Paraffin, from *Tu Jing* [Illustrated Classic]), Shi Ludan (Stone Sulfur Cinnabar, named by Tao Hongjing), Shizhizhi.
[Collection and Explanation] *Bie Lu* states: The texture resembles Shiqi, growing among mountain rocks. Pu Yue states: It grows in the valleys of Qiandao.
Li Shizhen states: This is simply sulfur that is reddish in color, named Shitingzhi. However, people in recent times generally refer to sulfur as Shitingzhi, which shows a lack of proper examination. According to *Baopuzi*, Shi Ludan is the red essence of stones, belonging to the category of stone sulfur. It seeps and overflows between banks; the moist parts can be formed into pills for oral administration, while the hard, consolidated parts can be taken as powder. It is found in the Five Great Mountains, with Jishan having the most abundance. Xu You and Chao Fu consumed it, which refers to Shizhizhi.
[Flavor and Properties] Bitter, warm, non-toxic.
[Indications] Leukorrhea in women, hemostasis. Lightens the body and prolongs longevity (*Bie Lu*). Strengthens yang, dispels cold, treats sores, and kills parasites; its efficacy is similar to that of sulfur (Li Shizhen).
[Attached Prescriptions] Two new prescriptions. Red nose pain: Use purple Shitingzhi; red is secondary; do not use yellow. Grind into powder, mix with cold water, and apply externally. Roots will be eliminated within half a month (*Shengji Lu*). Rheumatic gout: Raw Shitingzhi 1 liang, raw Chuan Wutou (Aconitum carmichaelii) 1 liang, Wumingyi (Hematite) 2 liang. Grind into powder, mix with natural juice of scallion whites to form pills the size of wutong seeds. Take 1 qian per dose, swallowed with light tea and raw scallions on an empty stomach, once daily (*Ruizhutang Fang*).
(Recorded in *Bie Lu* [Separate Record of Famous Physicians] as having a name but not yet used.)
[Names] Dongjieshi.
*Bie Lu* states: It grows among rocks in Wudu Mountain, appearing blue-white, hence the name.
Li Shizhen states: This is sulfur that is bluish in color. Su Song in *Tu Jing* stated that neither Shitingzhi nor Dongjieshi is suitable for medicinal use, which indicates a failure to examine this deeply.
[Flavor and Properties] Sour, warm, non-toxic.
[Indications] Treats diarrhea, benefits liver qi, brightens the eyes. Lightens the body and prolongs longevity (*Bie Lu*). Treats sores and kills parasites; its efficacy is similar to that of sulfur (Li Shizhen).
