匠炒末药三钱，米饮服之，次早大便取下。叩求其方，乃羊胫灰一物耳。谈野翁亦有此方，
皆巧哲格物究理之妙也。

擦牙固齿∶《食鉴》∶用火 羊胫骨为末，入飞盐二钱，同研匀，日用。又方∶烧白羊胫
骨灰一两，升麻一两，黄连五钱，为末，日用。濒湖方∶用羊胫骨（烧过）、香附子（烧黑）
各一两，青盐（ 过）、生地黄
湿热牙疼∶用羊胫骨灰二钱，白芷、当归、牙皂、青盐各一钱。为末，擦之。（东垣方）
脾虚白浊∶过虑伤脾，脾不能摄精，遂成此疾。以羊胫骨灰一两，姜制浓朴末二两，面
糊丸梧桐子大。米饮下百丸，日二服。一加茯苓一两半。（《济生方》）
虚劳瘦弱∶用颇儿必四十枚，以水一升，熬减大半，去滓及油，待凝任食。（《正要》）
筋骨挛痛∶用羊胫骨，酒浸服之。
月水不断∶羊前左脚胫骨一条，纸裹泥封令干， 赤，入棕榈灰等分。每服一钱，温酒
服之。
丑陋∶治人面体黧黑，皮浓状丑。用 羊胫骨为末，鸡子白和敷，旦以白粱米泔洗
之。三日如素，神效。（《肘后》）
误吞铜钱∶羊胫骨烧灰，以煮稀粥食，神效。（《谈野翁方》）
咽喉骨鲠∶羊胫骨灰，米饮服一钱。（《普济》）
悬蹄毛
【主治】转筋，醋煮裹脚（孟诜。又见毡）。

香瓣疮∶生面上耳边，浸淫水出，久不愈。用 羊须、荆芥、干枣肉各二钱，烧存性，

溺
【主治】伤寒热毒攻手足，肿痛欲断。以一升，和盐、豉捣，渍之

【气味】苦，平，无毒。
时珍曰∶制粉霜。
【主治】燔之，主小儿泄痢，肠鸣惊痫（《别录》）。烧灰，理 耳，并 竹刺入肉，治
箭镞不出（《日华》）。烧灰淋汁沐头，不过十度，即生发长黑。和雁肪涂头亦良（藏器。颂
曰∶屎纳鲫鱼腹中，瓦缶固济，烧灰涂发，易生而黑，
中诸疾，疳湿，大小便不通。烧烟熏鼻，治中恶心腹刺痛，亦熏诸疮中毒、痔 等。治骨蒸
弥良（苏恭）。
【附方】旧五，新十六。
疳痢欲死∶新羊屎一升，水一升，渍一夜，绞汁顿服，日午乃食。极重者，不过三服瘥。

疔疮恶肿∶青羊屎一升，水二升，渍少时，煮两沸，绞汁一升，顿服。（《广济方》）
里外 疮∶羊屎烧存性，研末，入轻粉涂之。（《集要》）
痘风疮证∶羊屎烧灰，清油调，敷之。（《全幼心鉴》）
小儿头疮∶羊粪煎汤洗净，仍以雄羊粪烧灰，同屋上悬煤炒为末，清油调涂。（《普济》）
头风白屑∶乌羊粪煎汁洗之。（《圣惠》）
发毛黄赤∶羊屎烧灰，和腊猪脂涂之，日三夜一，取黑乃止。（《圣惠方》）
木刺入肉∶干羊屎烧灰，猪脂和涂，不觉自出。（《千金》）
箭镞入肉∶方同上。
反花恶疮∶鲫鱼一个去肠，以羯羊屎填满，烧存性。先以米泔洗过，搽之。
瘰 已破∶羊屎（烧）五钱，杏仁（烧）五钱，研末，猪骨髓调搽。（《
湿 浸淫∶新羊屎绞汁涂之。干者烧烟熏之。（《圣济总录》）
雷头风病∶羊屎焙研，酒服二钱。（《普济方》）
慢脾惊风∶活脾散∶用羊屎二十一个（炮），丁香一百粒
，胡椒五十粒，为末。每服半钱，用六年东日照处壁土煎汤调下。（《普济方》）
Three qian of powdered medicine prepared by artisans, taken with rice water; the next morning, the foreign body is passed in stool. Upon asking for the prescription, it turned out to be nothing but ash from sheep tibia bones. Tan Yeweng also has this prescription, both demonstrating the ingenuity of those who skillfully ponder and investigate the principles of things.

To rub teeth and strengthen them: *Shi Jian* (Food Analysis): Burn sheep tibia bones into powder, add two qian of refined salt, grind together evenly, use daily. Another prescription: Burn one liang of white sheep tibia bone ash, one liang of Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma), five qian of Coptidis Rhizoma (Huanglian), make into powder, use daily. Binhu Prescription (Li Shizhen's own formula): Use one liang of sheep tibia bone (burned), one liang of Cyperi Rhizoma (Xiangfuzi) (burned black), appropriate amount of Qingyan (Green Salt) (stir-fried), and fresh Rehmanniae Radix (Shengdihuang), grind into powder, rub on teeth.
For damp-heat toothache: Use two qian of sheep tibia bone ash, one qian each of Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Gleditsiae Sinensis Spina (Yazao), and Green Salt. Grind into powder, rub on teeth. (Dongyuan's Formula)
Spleen deficiency with white turbidity: Excessive worry damages the spleen; the spleen fails to control essence, leading to this disease. Use one liang of sheep tibia bone ash, two liang of Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex (Houpo) processed with ginger, made into pills the size of paulownia seeds using flour paste. Take 100 pills with rice water, twice a day. Optionally add one and a half liang of Poria (Fuling). (*Jisheng Fang*)
Consumptive emaciation: Use forty pieces of Poerbi (likely a specific local herb or preparation), boil in one sheng of water until reduced by more than half, remove dregs and oil, let solidify, and eat as desired. (*Zhengyao*)
Tendon contraction and pain: Use sheep tibia bones, soak in wine and take.
Unceasing menstruation: Take one strip of the left front tibia bone of a sheep, wrap in paper, seal with mud, dry, burn until red, mix with equal parts of Palm Fiber Ash (Zonglü Hui). Take one qian per dose, with warm wine.
Ugly appearance: To treat darkened face and body, rough skin, and ugly features. Use sheep tibia bone powder mixed with egg white for application; wash with white sorghum bran water in the morning. Recovery to normal state in three days, miraculous effect. (*Zhouhou Fang*)
Accidental swallowing of copper coins: Burn sheep tibia bones to ash, cook thin porridge with it and eat, miraculous effect. (*Tan Yeweng's Formula*)
Fishbone stuck in throat: Sheep tibia bone ash, take one qian with rice water. (*Puji Fang*)
Suspensory hoof hair
[Indications] Treats muscle cramps (Zhuanjin); boil in vinegar and wrap around the foot (Meng Shen. Also see entry for felt).
Beard (Sheep beard is preferred)
[Indications] Pediatric mouth sores, Quechou urine sores; burn to ash, mix with oil for external application (Shizhen. From *Guangji Fang*).

Xiangban sore: Occurs around the ears and face, oozing fluid, chronic and unhealing. Use two qian each of sheep beard, Schizonepetae Herba (Jingjie), and dried jujube flesh; burn to retain character (Cunxing), add half a qian of Calomelas (Qingfen). Wash and wipe before application.
Perioral sore: Same formula as above.
Urine
[Indications] Typhoid heat-toxin attacking hands and feet, causing swelling, pain, and sensation of impending amputation. Use one sheng of sheep urine, mix with salt and fermented soybeans, pound, and soak the affected area.
Feces (Green sheep feces are preferred)
[Flavor and Nature] Bitter, neutral, non-toxic.
Shizhen says: Can be processed into powder frost.
[Indications] When burned, treats pediatric diarrhea and dysentery, intestinal borborygmus, and convulsive epilepsy (*Bielu*). Burned to ash, treats ear diseases, removes bamboo splinters embedded in flesh, and expels arrowheads lodged in tissue (*Rihua*). Leach ash with water to wash hair; within ten times, hair grows back black. Mixing with goose fat for head application is also good (Zangqi. Song says: Place sheep feces inside a crucian carp, seal tightly in a clay pot, burn to ash, apply to hair; promotes growth and darkening, treating various ailments, gan-dampness, and urinary/fecal obstruction. Smoke inhalation treats acute heart and abdominal stabbing pain, and smokes toxic sores and hemorrhoids. Excellent for treating bone-steaming consumption (Su Gong).

Critical gan-dysentery: One sheng of fresh sheep feces, one sheng of water, soak overnight, squeeze juice, take in one dose, eat only at noon. For severe cases, no more than three doses cure it. (*Zonglu*)
Acid regurgitation and vomiting: Ten pieces of sheep feces, two he of wine, decoct to one he, take in one dose. If not settled, take again. (*Bingbu Shouji*)
Reverse stomach vomiting food: Five qian of sheep dung, one large cup of child's urine, decoct to six parts, remove dregs, divide into three doses. (*Shenghui*)
Pediatric sialorrhea: Frequently place white sheep feces in the mouth. (*Qianjin*)
Heart qi pain regardless of duration: Seven pieces of goat feces, one ball of oily hair, burn to ash, take with wine. Permanently cures root cause. (Sun's *Jixiao Fang*)
Pregnancy febrile disease: Mash green sheep feces, apply to umbilicus to calm fetal qi. (*Waitai Mi Yao*)
Typhoid limb pain, hand/foot pain feeling like detachment: Decoct sheep feces in water, soak affected area; stop when cured. Or mix with pig fat for topical application, also good. (*Waitai*)
Epidemic yin swelling and penile heat/swelling: Decoct sheep feces and Phellodendri Cortex (Huangbai), wash affected area. (*Waitai*)
Carbuncle and malignant swelling: One sheng of green sheep feces, two sheng of water, soak briefly, boil twice, squeeze juice to one sheng, take in one dose. (*Guangji Fang*)
Internal and external back carbuncles: Burn sheep feces to retain character, grind to powder, add Calomelas (Qingfen) for application. (*Jiyao*)
Poisonous wind sore syndrome: Burn sheep feces to ash, mix with clear sesame oil, apply. (*Quanyou Xinjian*)
Pediatric head sores: Decoct sheep feces in water to clean, then use male sheep feces burned to ash, stir-fried with roof coal, ground to powder, mixed with clear sesame oil for application. (*Puji Fang*)
Head wind with white scales: Decoct black sheep feces in water to wash. (*Shenghui Fang*)
Yellow/red hair: Burn sheep feces to ash, mix with cured pig lard, apply three times daily and once nightly, stop when hair turns black. (*Shenghui Fang*)
Wooden splinter in flesh: Burn dry sheep feces to ash, mix with pig lard for application; splinter exits unnoticed. (*Qianjin*)
Arrowhead in flesh: Same formula as above.
Fanflower malignant sore: Remove intestines from one crucian carp, fill with wether sheep feces, burn to retain character. Wash with rice water first, then apply.
Scrofula already ruptured: Burned sheep feces five qian, burned almonds five qian, grind to powder, mix with pig bone marrow for application. (*Yifang Leiju* cited)
Damp sores spreading: Squeeze juice from fresh sheep feces for application. For dry ones, smoke with burning feces. (*Shengji Zonglu*)
Thunder-head wind disease: Roast and grind sheep feces, take two qian with wine. (*Puji Fang*)
Slow spleen convulsive wind: Huopi San: Use twenty-one sheep feces (processed), one hundred cloves (Dingxiang), fifty grains of pepper (Hujiao), grind to powder. Take half a qian per dose, mixed with decoction of wall soil exposed to eastern sun for six years. (*Puji Fang*)
