[Names] Huan Jun (from *Shennong Bencao Jing*).
Li Shizhen states: It should be written as "Huan" (Reed), which belongs to the category of reeds; this fungus grows beneath them, hence the name. If pronounced as "Guan", it refers to a bird's name, which is unrelated to reeds.
[Collected Explanations] The *Bielu* states: Huan Jun grows in coastal pools and marshes, as well as in Zhangwu, Bohai Commandery. Harvested in August, dried in the shade.
Tao Hongjing states: It originates from the north and is not found here. Its shape resembles fungi; it is said to be generated from stork droppings, also known as Stork Fungus. Ground into powder and eaten with pork meat, it can expel roundworms (*Ascaris lumbricoides*).
Su Gong states: Huan Jun now grows naturally in the saline-alkali lands within the reed marshes of Bohai Commandery; it is not generated from stork droppings. The fungus is white, light, and spongy, with similar texture inside and out, differing from other fungi. It is effective in treating roundworms.
Kou Zongshi states: It is now produced in Cangzhou. It appears when autumn rains arrive on time but becomes scarce during droughts or prolonged rain. Those dried in the sun are of good quality.

The *Bielu* states: Sweet, slightly warm.
Zhen Quan states: Bitter. Best taken with wine; adverse reaction with eggs.

[Names] Di Ta Gu (from *Bencao Gangmu*).
[Collected Explanations] The *Bielu* states: Di Er grows on hillsides, green like jade stone.
Li Shizhen states: Di Er also belongs to the Auricularia (wood ear) category, growing on the ground. Its shape resembles wood ear mushrooms. It grows in spring and summer during rainfall; it should be harvested early after rain, as exposure to sunlight renders it unsuitable. The common name Di Ta Gu refers to this.
[Flavor and Properties] Sweet, cold, non-toxic.
[Indications] Brightening the eyes and benefiting qi, enabling fertility (*Bielu*).
