[Collected Explanations] Wu Rui stated: Tianhua Cai originates from Wutai Mountain in Shanxi. Its shape resembles pine pollen but is larger, with an aroma similar to mushrooms. It is white and very delicious when eaten.
Li Shizhen stated: Wutai Mountain has many poisonous fungi influenced by snakes; this species grows under their influence, so while its taste is excellent, it has no medicinal benefit, and its price is quite high. Duan Chengshi, in *Youyang Zazu*, wrote: In Daibei, there is a "tree chicken" shaped like a cup, commonly called "monkey eye." This might be of the same kind?
[Taste and Properties] Sweet, neutral, non-toxic.
Li Shizhen stated: According to *Yaozheng*, it is toxic.

[Names] Rou Xun (Meat Mushroom).
[Collected Explanations] Li Shizhen stated: Mo Gu grows in Shandong, Huaibei, and other places. Mulberry and paper mulberry woods are buried in the soil and irrigated with rice wash water; after the mushrooms sprout, they are harvested. They are two to three cun long, small at the base and large at the top, white and soft, hollow inside, resembling unopened Hosta flowers. Commonly known as "Chicken Leg Mo Gu" because its taste resembles chicken. Another variety resembles a sheep's stomach with honeycomb-like pores, named Yangdu Cai (Sheep Stomach Vegetable).
[Taste and Properties] Sweet, cold, non-toxic.
*Yaozheng* states: Toxic. It can stir up internal wind and trigger illness; do not eat too much.
[Indications] Benefits the stomach and intestines, resolves phlegm, regulates qi (recorded by Li Shizhen, from *Shengsheng Bian*).

[Names] Ji Jun (Chicken Fungus).
Li Shizhen stated: People in the South call it Ji Jun, all saying its taste resembles chicken.
[Collected Explanations] Li Shizhen stated: Ji Jun originates from Yunnan, growing in sandy areas among Ding Xun (a type of mushroom). It has a tall stem and a large cap. Locals harvest and dry it to send far away as a local specialty. It is suitable for brewing tea and cooking meat. Its taste and aroma resemble aromatic mushrooms, though less refined. Additionally, Hengzhou in Guangxi produces Lei Jun (Thunder Mushroom), which appears immediately after thunderstorms and must be harvested quickly; otherwise, it rots or becomes tough, hence the name. It is very delicious in soups and belongs to the category of Ji Jun.
The prices of these several varieties are all precious.
[Taste and Properties] Sweet, neutral, non-toxic.
[Indications] Benefits the stomach, clears the spirit, treats hemorrhoids (recorded by Li Shizhen).
