腹胀如鼓，数月垂死。一医用猪脬吹胀，以翎管安上，插入廷孔，捻脬气吹入，即大尿而愈。
此法载在罗天益《卫生宝鉴》中，知者颇少，亦机巧妙术也。

敷恶疮，杀疳 ，治目赤目翳，明目，清心脏，凉肝脾。入汤沐发，去腻光泽
【发明】成无己曰∶仲景以猪胆汁和醋少许，灌谷道中，通大便神效。盖酸苦益阴润
燥而泻便也。又治少阴下利不止，厥逆无脉，干呕烦者，以白通汤加猪胆汁主之。若调寒热
之逆者，冷热必行，则热物冷服，下嗌之后，冷体既消，热性便发，故病气自愈。此所以和
人尿、猪胆咸苦之物，于白通热剂之中，使其气相从，而无拒格之患也。又云霍乱病吐下已
断，汗出而厥，四肢拘急，脉微欲绝者，通脉四逆汤加猪胆汁主之。盖阳气太虚，阴气独胜。

瘿气
《杏林摘要》∶用猪靥七枚，酒熬三钱，入水瓶中露一夜，取出炙食。二服效。《医
林集要》∶开结散∶猪靥（焙）四十九枚，沉香二钱，真珠（砂罐 ）四十九粒，沉香二钱，
橘红四钱，为末。临卧冷酒徐徐服二钱。五服见效，重者一料愈。以除日合之。忌酸、咸、
油腻、涩气之物。

【主治】小儿惊痫，五月五日取，烧灰服（《别录》）。又治蛇咬（《日华》）。中牛肉毒
者，烧灰水服一钱。又治痘疮倒陷（时珍）。
骨
【主治】中马肝、漏脯、果、菜诸毒，烧灰，水服方寸匕，日三服。颊骨∶烧灰，治痘
陷；煎汁服，解丹药毒（时珍）。

三消渴疾∶猪脊汤∶用猪脊骨一尺二寸，大枣四十九枚，新莲肉四十九粒，炙甘草二两，

【发明】时珍曰∶小儿体属纯阳，其惊痫亦生于风热。猪乳气寒，以寒治热，谓之正治。
故钱乙云∶初生小儿至盈月，以猪乳频滴之，最佳。张焕云∶小儿初生无乳，以猪乳代之，
出月可免惊痫痘疹之患。杨士瀛云∶小儿口噤不开，猪乳饮之甚良。月内胎惊，同朱砂、牛
乳少许，抹口中甚妙。此法诸家方书未知用，予传之。东宫吴观察子病此，用之有效。

猪汤
Pound the ingredients into pills the size of *Sapindus* seeds (Chinese soapberry). Take fifty pills each time, swallowed with warm wine.
Hypochondriac heat and bloody dysentery: The method is the same as above.
Fill with [medicines], tie securely, steam until cooked, pound into pills the size of *Sapindus* seeds. Take fifty pills before meals.
Urinary Bladder (*Pang Guang*, also written as "Bao")
[Flavor and Nature] Sweet, salty, cold, non-toxic.
[Indications] Nocturnal enuresis in dreams, hernia with dragging pain, dampness and itching of the scrotum, sores on the penis.
[Elucidation] Li Shizhen said: The indications for the pig bladder all pertain to diseases of the Lower Jiao (Lower Burner), following the principle of similarity. In Qizhou, a prostitute suffered from "Zhuan Pao" (retention of urine due to bladder dysfunction), unable to urinate, with an abdomen swollen like a drum, nearing death for months. A physician inflated a pig bladder, attached a feather quill tube, inserted it into the urethral meatus, and blew air into the bladder by manipulating it. The patient then urinated profusely and recovered. This method is recorded in Luo Tianyi's *Weisheng Baojian* (Precious Mirror of Health), but few know of it; it is indeed a clever technique.

Nocturnal enuresis in dreams: Wash and roast a pig bladder, then eat it. (From *Qianjin Fang*)
Postpartum urinary incontinence: One pig bladder, one pig stomach, half a sheng of glutinous rice. Place the rice inside the bladder, then place the bladder inside the stomach. Boil together with five flavors and eat. (From *Yilin Jiyao*)
Postpartum bedwetting: Same method as above.
Hernia with dragging pain: Wash one pig bladder. Fill it equally with small fennel fruit, large fennel fruit, *Psoralea corylifolia* (Gu Zhi), and *Akebia quinata* fruit. Add a piece of green salt, tie securely, cook in wine until done, eat, and follow with wine. The herbs should be roasted dry.
Excessive thirst (Xiao Ke): Ten dried pig bladders. Cut open, remove the stalk, burn until carbonized but retaining nature, and powder. Take one qian each time with warm wine. (From *Shengji Zonglu*)
Kidney wind causing scrotal itching: Roast a pig urinary sac over fire, eat with salt and wine. (From *Jiuji Fang*)
Sores and foul decay on the penis: Use one pig bladder (retain half its urine, discard half). Roast with a new red brick until dry, powder it. Add one qian of *Minium* (Hong Dan). Apply to the sore. It heals in three to five applications. First wash with decoction of scallion and pepper. (From *Qixiao Fang*)
White alopecia and leprous sores: Clean and scrape the affected area. Wrap it while hot with a pig bladder; this will draw out worms.
Gallbladder
[Flavor and Nature] Bitter, cold, non-toxic.
[Indications] Heat and thirst from Cold Damage (Shang Han) (from *Bielu*). Bone heat, extreme fatigue, excessive thirst, five types of infantile malnutrition (Wu Gan) in children. Kills parasites (Su Song). Apply to infantile head sores. Treats constipation: insert a reed tube three cun into the lower orifice and irrigate with bile; stool passes immediately (Chen Cangqi). Promotes urination, applies to malignant sores, kills worm-like pathogens, treats red eyes and corneal opacity, brightens vision, clears Heart fire, cools Liver and Spleen. Added to hair-washing water to remove grease and add luster.
[Elucidation] Cheng Wuji said: Zhang Zhongjing used pig gallbladder bile mixed with a little vinegar, instilled into the rectum, which effectively unblocks bowel movements. This is because sour and bitter flavors nourish Yin, moisten dryness, and purge stool. It also treats Shaoyin syndrome with incessant diarrhea, cold limbs, absent pulse, dry retching, and irritability; Bai Tong Tang (White Pass Decoction) with added pig gallbladder bile is indicated. If regulating reversed cold-heat, the qi must circulate; thus, taking hot medicine cold allows the cold body temperature to dissipate first, then the hot nature activates, curing the disease. This explains why adding salty and bitter substances like human urine and pig gallbladder to the hot Bai Tong agent ensures harmony without rejection. Also, in Huoluan (Stomach Turmoil) where vomiting and diarrhea have ceased, but sweating and cold limbs occur with limb cramping and faint pulse, Tong Mai Si Ni Tang (Pulse-Returning Four Reversals Decoction) with added pig gallbladder bile is indicated. This is because Yang Qi is extremely deficient and Yin Qi prevails alone...
Wang Ji said: Zhu Fengyi treated Cold Damage after five or six days... there is a Pig Gallbladder and Egg Decoction.
Li Shizhen said: Formulary practitioners use pig gallbladder for its cold nature to overcome heat, slippery nature to moisten dryness, bitter flavor to enter the Heart, and ability to clear Fire from the Liver and Gallbladder.
[Additional Prescriptions] Six old prescriptions, fourteen new prescriptions.
Shaoyin incessant diarrhea: Cold limbs, absent pulse, dry retching, irritability. Use Bai Tong Tang (White Pass Decoction) with added pig gallbladder bile. Four stems of scallion white, one liang of dried ginger, one raw *Aconitum carmichaelii* (Fu Zi), three sheng of water. Boil...
Or diarrhea alternating/stopping but chronic: Er Sheng Wan (Two Sages Pill): Use one liang each of *Coptis chinensis* (Huang Lian) and *Phellodendron amurense* (Huang Bai) powders. Cook with pig gallbladder bile to bind, form pills the size of mung beans. Dosage according to child's age, taken with rice drink. (From *Zongwei Lun*)
Red and white dysentery: One hundred pig gallbladders from the twelfth lunar month. Fill each with male black soybeans. Add a little musk. Dry in shade. Take five or seven pills, powdered, each time. For red dysentery, take with licorice root decoction; for white dysentery, mix with ginger decoction. (From *Qixiao Fang*)
Damp toxin causing incessant dysentery: Dry retching, emaciation, excessive sleep, yellow face. Irrigate the lower orifice with bile mixed with ginger juice and strong vinegar. Pinch firmly until the vinegar scent reaches the throat, then stop. Five-colored foul matter and worms will pass, and the patient recovers.
Heat disease with worms, eroding upper and lower parts: Use one pig gallbladder, one he of vinegar. Boil and take. Worms die immediately.
Emaciation with cough: Boil pig gallbladder with human urine, ginger juice, tangerine peel, *Terminalia chebula* (He Le Le), and peach bark. Drink the juice. (From *Shiyi Fang*)
Urinary retention: *Zhou Hou Bei Ji Fang*: One pig gallbladder, taken with hot wine. Alternatively, apply pig gallbladder juice directly to the glans penis. Within one or two hours, urine flows naturally.
Excessive thirst (Xiao Ke): Five male pig gallbladders, one liang of Lead Carbonate (Ding Fen). Simmer together until thick. Form pills the size of *Euryale ferox* (Qian Shi) seeds. Dissolve two pills in the mouth each time, swallow twice daily. (From *Shengji Zonglu*)

Carbuncles and malignant swellings: Wind-dry pig gallbladder from the twelfth lunar month. Mash with raw scallion and apply. (From *Puji Fang*)
Corneal opacity and blindness: One pig gallbladder. Simmer gently until thick. Form pills the size of millet grains. Insert one grain into the eye. Effective. (From *Waitai Mi Yao*)
Red, painful, swollen eyes: One portion of pig gallbladder bile, mixed with five fen of Green Vitriol (Yan Lu). Instill into the eye. (From *Puji Fang*)
Fire-eye red pain: One pig gallbladder, three copper coins. Steam in a cup until dry. Extract bile and form pills the size of millet grains. Place in the eye. (From *Shenghui Fang*)
Restore black hair: Apply pig gallbladder to the follicle; black hair grows back. (From *Shenghui Fang*)
Newborn infants: Bathe the infant in water containing pig gallbladder to prevent sores and scabies. (Yao Hezhong)
Maternal wind sores due to early exposure to wind: Mix one pig gallbladder with one liang of nut oil. Apply externally. (From *Xinglin Zhaiyao*)
Scalds and burns: Mix pig gallbladder with *Phellodendron* powder. Apply. (From *Waitai Mi Yao*)
Phlegmonous abscesses discharging fluid: Occurs on hands, feet, shoulders, back, appearing like red beans. Clean the area, apply pig gallbladder. (From *Qianjin Fang*)
Wind-stuffiness blocking the throat: On the first day of the twelfth lunar month, take five or six pig gallbladders (any size). Fill with five qian each of *Coptis chinensis* (Huang Lian), Indigo Naturalis (Qing Dai), *Mentha haplocalyx* (Bo He), *Bombyx batryticatus* (Jiang Can), White Alum (Bai Fan), and Mirabilite (Piao Xiao). Seal with green paper. Wait until the Start of Spring (Lichun) to retrieve. Let it dry in the wind. Remove the bladder skin and paper, powder, and store tightly. Blow a small amount into the nose; highly effective. This is a priceless secret formula. (Shao Zhenren's *Experience Prescription*)
Gallbladder Skin
[Indications] For severe corneal opacity: Take the skin, sun-dry, twist into ropes the thickness of chopsticks. Burn to ash, eliminate fire toxicity, and instill into the eye. Cured in three to five applications. (Li Shizhen. From *Waitai Mi Yao*)

*Xinglin Zhaiyao*: Use seven pig yees. Simmer in wine to extract three qian. Leave in a water bottle overnight exposed to dew. Retrieve, roast, and eat. Effective after two doses. *Yilin Jiyao* Kaie San (Unbinding Powder): Forty-nine roasted pig yees, two qian of Agarwood (Chen Xiang), forty-nine pearls (calcined in clay pot), two qian of Agarwood, four qian of Tangerine Peel (Ju Hong). Powder them. Take two qian slowly with cold wine before bed. Effective after five doses; one course cures severe cases. Prepare on the Day of Elimination. Avoid sour, salty, greasy, and astringent foods.

[Indications] Infantile convulsions, wandering ghost toxins, chills and fever, five types of strangury. Dip cotton in it and let the infant suckle (Su Gong). Infantile upward staring (Tian Diao), adult pig or chicken epilepsy (from *Rihua*).
[Elucidation] Li Shizhen said: Infants belong to Pure Yang; their convulsions arise from Wind-Heat. Pig milk is cold, using cold to treat heat is called "Direct Treatment." Therefore, Qian Yi said: For newborns up to one month old, frequently dripping pig milk is best. Zhang Huan said: If a newborn has no milk, substitute with pig milk; after one month, they can avoid convulsions and smallpox/rubella. Yang Shiying said: For infantile trismus (lockjaw), drinking pig milk is very good. For fetal fright within the first month, mix with a little Cinnabar and cow's milk, smear in the mouth; this is excellent. This method is unknown in other medical books; I transmit it.
