Li Shizhen said: This small herb is the Sanyesuan; its taste is like vinegar. It differs in substance from the Suanjiang of Denglong Cao (Physalis alkekengi). Tang Shenwei's *Bencao* incorrectly included formulas for this herb under that of Denglong Cao's Suanjiang. Zheng Qiao of Fujian, in his *Tongzhi*, stated that people in Fuzhou call it "Sunshi". Therefore, Su Song's *Tu Jing* records that Chishunshi grows in Fuzhou with leaves resembling floating duckweed, which is exactly this herb. "Sunshi" is also a corruption of "Suanji". Now they are combined into one entry.
[Collection and Explanation] Su Gong said: Cujiang grows in clusters along roadsides in shady and damp places. The stem tip has three leaves, resembling fine duckweed. Harvested in April and May, dried in the shade.

Su Song said: It is abundant in low-lying wetlands and household gardens in the South, and occasionally found in the North. When young and tender, children like to eat it. Southerners use it to polish stone vessels, making them white as silver.
Li Shizhen said: The seedlings are one or two cun high, growing in clusters spreading over the ground, reproducing easily. One branch bears three leaves; each leaf consists of two lobes that fold together at dusk.
