It enters the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian. Both its aroma and flavor are ascending, which belongs to Yang. Agarwood is pungent, warm, aromatic, and drying. Entering the Liver, it disperses Wind; entering the Lung, it moves Water. Therefore, it treats wind-water toxic edema.
Wind-water toxic edema refers to edema caused by wind-toxin. The Lung governs Qi. Pungent flavors enter the Lung, and since its nature is warm and aromatic, it dispels evil qi.

Wuyao (Lindera Root) has a warm nature. It inherits the Wood Qi of spring warmth from Heaven. It enters the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian. Its flavor is pungent and non-toxic, deriving the Metal flavor of the West from Earth.
It enters the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian.
Both its aroma and flavor are ascending, which belongs to Yang. The Lung is the Hand-Taiyin Meridian, governing Qi and combining with the skin and hair to provide external protection. If Lung Qi is not deficient, external pathogens have no way to enter.
If Righteous Qi is not injured, external pathogens cannot cause harm. The heart and abdomen are areas traversed by the Hand-Taiyin Meridian. Sudden abdominal pain due to evil invasion occurs because Taiyin Righteous Qi fails to expel pathogens. Wuyao is pungent and warm. Warmth promotes movement, and pungency promotes dispersion. Therefore, it treats this condition. Pungent and warm belong to Yang, and Yang can break Yin. Thus, it treats Gu poison, Zhu-wu, and ghostly qi. Food enters the Stomach, and its essence is distributed to the Liver. The Liver's ability to disperse relies entirely on the movement of pungent and warm Yang. Wuyao, being pungent and warm, assists the Liver, thereby aiding digestion. Epidemic miasma pathogens are all formed by damp-heat. Pungent and warm properties promote free flow, eliminating the stagnation of damp-heat obstructing Qi. Therefore, it treats this condition. Cold Qi between the Bladder and Kidney is Cold Water Qi.
Attacking the back and spine, it comes from the Yin position to invade the Yang position. Wuyao is pungent and warm, assisting Yang. Where Yang arrives, Yin-Cold naturally recedes. Moreover, the back and spine are governed by the Lung of the Hand-Taiyin Meridian.
Its warm nature enters the Liver; the Liver stores Blood. Its pungent flavor enters the Lung; the Lung governs Qi. Pungent and warm properties move and drain. Therefore, it treats stagnation of blood and Qi in women. Various intestinal parasites in children are transformed from damp-heat.
Pungent and warm possess the nature of reaching upwards and draining downwards. Therefore, it can eliminate various parasites.
