桑君真口诀时常莫作等闲轻
For diseases caused by a hundred evils, such as epilepsy and mania, there are thirteen acupoints that must be clearly identified. When needling, first needle the Guigong (Ghost Palace) point, then needle the Guixin (Ghost Trust) point; no treatment will fail. Seek them one by one in order from the beginning. For males, start from the left side; for females, start from the right side.
First needle: At the Renzhong (Ghost Palace) point, pause here. Insert the needle on the left side and withdraw it on the right side.
Second needle: Below the nail of the thumb, named Guixin (Ghost Trust), insert to a depth of 3 fen.
Third needle: Below the nail of the big toe, named Guilou (Ghost Fortress), insert to a depth of 2 fen.
Fourth needle: The Daling (Great Market) point behind the palm, insert 1 cun 5 fen, this is the Guixin (Ghost Heart) point.
Fifth needle: Shenmai (Spirit Path) point, named Guilu (Ghost Road); use fire needle, apply three moxa cones per point.
Sixth needle: Seek above the Dazhu (Big Bone) point, enter into the hairline by 1 cun, named Guizhen (Ghost Pillow).
Seventh needle: 5 fen below the earlobe, named Guichuang (Ghost Bed); apply warm therapy (or moxibustion).
Eighth needle: Chengjiang (Receiving Pool) point, named Guishi (Ghost Market); remember to proceed from left to right.
Ninth needle: Jianshi (Intercalated Intestine) point, named Guili Shang (Ghost Interior Upper).
Tenth needle: Shangxing (Upper Star) point, named Guitang (Ghost Hall).
Eleventh needle: Yin Xia Feng (Below Yin Seam), apply three moxa cones; for females, at the Yumen Tou (Gate of Jade Head), named Guicang (Ghost Storehouse).
Twelfth needle: Quchi (Pool at the Crook) point, named Guichen (Ghost Minister); use fire needle, apply seven moxa cones.
Thirteenth needle: In the center of the tongue, this point is named Guifeng (Ghost Seal). Needle both sides of the hands and feet symmetrically. If encountering an isolated point, needle only on one side. This is the true mantra of the ancient masters; it makes the manic evil ghosts vanish without a trace.
The Tianxing (Heavenly Star) secret method is known by few. This method specifically applies to anterior and posterior regions. If there is retained food in the stomach, first seek Zusanli (Leg Three Miles), then Xuanji (Jade Pivot). For spleen disease involving blood and qi issues, first Hegu (Joining Valley), then Sanjinyiao (Three Yin Intersection); do not delay. If afflicted by ghost evil, first needle Jianshi (Intercalated Intestine). For arm spasm and bi-syndrome, take Jianyu (Shoulder Well). For muscle twitching and blurred vision, first needle Chengshan (Supporting Mountain), then the point near the medial malleolus. For gout pain and soreness, first take Jianjing (Gallbladder 21), then seek Zusanli (Leg Three Miles) and Yanglingquan (Yang Ridge Spring). If small intestine pain radiates to the umbilicus, first needle Yinlingquan (Yin Ridge Spring), then Yongquan (Gushing Spring). For tinnitus and lower back pain, first needle Wuhui (Five Meetings), then Ermen (Ear Gate). For small intestine Qi pain, first needle Changqiang (Long Strength), then Dadun (Great Earth); do not be hasty. For foot weakness and difficulty walking, first Jiegu (Bone Separation), then Tiaokou (Striding Mouth) and Chongyang (Chongyang). For toothache, headache, and throat obstruction, first needle Erjian (Second Intestinal), then Zusanli (Leg Three Miles). For chest and diaphragm fullness and oppression, first needle Yinjiao (Yin Intersection). Needling Chengshan (Supporting Mountain) promotes appetite. For abdominal edema and distension, first needle Shuifen (Water Dividing), and drain Jianli (Building Up). For cold damage that has passed through the meridians without sweating, consider Qimen (Gate of the Liver) and Zusanli (Leg Three Miles) sequentially. For cold malaria, facial swelling, and intestinal borborygmus, first take Hegu (Joining Valley), then Neiting (Inner Court). For wind-cold induced warm bi-syndrome, where should needling be applied? First take Huantiao (Jumping Circle), then Yanglingquan (Yang Ridge Spring). For finger pain and spasm, Shaoshang (Lesser Shang) is good. Following these methods ensures efficacy. This is the true mantra of Sang Jun; always do not treat it lightly.
