Treats all types of stroke-induced paralysis, facial deviation (mouth and eyes slanting), dysarthria (speech impediment), difficulty in walking, tendon and vessel contraction, and joint pain. (Also known as Zidan. On the day the disease first appears, take one dose of Shenbai San from the following prescription, then take this medicine; it will surely prevent disability.)
Chuanwu Tou (Radix Aconiti Preparata, four liang, processed, skin, navel, and tip removed) Wulingzhi (Pyrrosiae Folium prepared by removing stones and sand and stir-fried, four liang) Fuzi (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata, processed, skin and navel removed) Baihuashe (Bungarus multicinctus, two liang each for six ingredients) Tubiechong (Eupolyphaga seu Steleophaga, one liang each for the above five ingredients) Quanxie (Scorpio, processed, one liang each for the above six ingredients) Zhusha (Cinnabaris, ground separately) Xionghuang (Realgar, ground separately) Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, ground separately) Shexiang (Moschus, one fen, ground separately) Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Recens) Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) [Text gap/error here]. Additionally, use three sheng of unfermented wine to boil into a paste until semi-dry.
Grind the above ingredients into fine powder, mix with the paste of Dihuang and Danggui, knead in a wooden mortar for over a thousand strikes until it becomes a paste-like consistency, then mix with the medicinal powder. If the mixture is too hard, use the wine-soaking method: stir-fry black soybeans until scorched, soak them in wine while hot, remove the beans, and use only the wine. Take at any time.
Treats all types of stroke and eight winds and five bi syndromes, limb dragging, facial deviation, traction of the eyebrow corners, stiffness and tension of the neck and back, trismus (lockjaw), palpitations and chest stuffiness, mental state resembling drunkenness, generalized fever, vexatious pain in joints, muscle numbness, heaviness in waist and knees, skin twitching, sensation of insects crawling, headache due to yang deficiency, wind-cold invading the brain, vertigo and dizziness as if on a boat, tinnitus sounding like wind, bi syndrome caused by wind-cold-dampness, foot [text missing], and injuries to tendons and bones from falls or blows. It also treats conditions where cloudy weather causes whole-body pain and inability to sleep or lie down.
Chuanxiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizoma) Tianma (Gastrodiae Rhizoma, soaked in wine, remove tips) Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba) Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma, remove soil and leaves) Jingjiesui (Schizonepetae Spica) Chuanlianzi Rou (Fructus Toosendan, stir-fried) Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba) ... Zhusha (Cinnabaris, two liang, ground, mixed with Shexiang for coating).
Take the above forty-seven ingredients. Except for those requiring separate grinding, grind the rest into fine powder. Add the previously ground powders, mix evenly, and form pills with refined honey. Each liang of powder makes five pills. Coat with Zhusha and Shexiang. Take half a pill or one pill per dose, dissolved in hot wine. Take at any time.
