Its symptoms include restlessness in sitting and lying, fullness and distension in the epigastrium (heart pit), bluish discoloration of the mouth and tongue, bluish nails, and pain in the lower abdomen. Puncturing the root of the scrotum will lead to recovery.
Its symptoms include distending pain in the abdomen and flanks, and heart pain. Turning up the lips to puncture the inner side, or puncturing the gums on the upper lip, will lead to recovery.
Its symptoms include abdominal distension and pain, dizziness, blacking out of vision, and internal chest fullness. Administer water infused with alum (Alumen), then puncture the posterior heart region and the tip of the earlobe to achieve recovery. (Another prescription: Take seven grains of Piperis Fructus (Hu Jiao, 胡椒), seven slices of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Sheng Jiang, 生姜), and a handful of aged wheat bran, grind them together until paste-like, decoct with wine, remove the dregs, mix well, and take four qian.)
Liu Songfeng notes: Regarding various "Zheng" syndromes (referring to spasms and convulsions), it is excellent to puncture and then knead out the evil blood. In cases of severe disease where no blood flows upon puncture, one must vigorously knead and stimulate with the hand until bleeding occurs, at which point recovery ensues. For various "Zheng" syndromes accompanied by trismus (lockjaw) where the mouth cannot open, rub the gums with Mume Fructus (Wu Mei, 乌梅); once saliva flows, the jaw will open. This is because the sour flavor first enters the sinews, and Wood can overcome Earth, causing the jaw to become soft due to sourness and thus open. If iron tools or other objects are used to pry it open, there is a risk of damaging the teeth.
The above treatments for various "Zheng" syndromes were obtained by me from inscriptions on stone walls at Daizong (Mount Tai). I recorded them and stored them in my boxes. When encountering patients suffering from this disease, applying these methods has repeatedly yielded miraculous effects. Later, while traveling through Qin and Jin regions along the Taihang Mountains, I also saw a paper pasted on a wall. The content was largely similar, differing only in that "Zheng" was changed to "Fan," likely due to dialectal variations, but the symptoms and treatments remained identical. Therefore, I took them to compare and revise, intending to disseminate them widely. The naming conventions each have their own meaning; do not neglect them simply because they involve folk customs. Liu Songfeng records again.
(Liu Songfeng says: These are all epidemic diseases, actually not Shanghan [Cold Damage].)
Whenever there is redness, swelling, and pain in the chest and diaphragm, headache, body ache, fever, and aversion to cold, it is named Chige Shanghan (Shanghan characterized by chest/diaphragm redness and swelling). It is appropriate to use Jingfang Baidu San (see "Nianjing Wen"). Add Gualou Ren (Pericarpium Trichosanthis, quelled oil), Coptidis Rhizoma (Huang Lian, 黄连), Scutellariae Radix (Huang Qin, 黄芩), Zijin Pi, Scrophulariae Radix (Yuanshen, 元参), Paeoniae Radix Rubra (Chishao, 赤芍), Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma, 升麻), and Angelicae Dahuricae Radix (Baizhi, 白芷). If the syndrome presents both exterior and interior signs with redness, swelling, and pain in the chest and diaphragm, use Shuangjie San (see "Jiaochang Wen"). Add Gualou Ren, Huang Lian, and Zijin Pi. If the exterior syndrome has resolved, but there is dry stool and excess condition with swelling and pain in the chest and diaphragm, use Liangge Jiedu San (a modification of Liangge San). Add Gualou Ren, Zhike (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus, 枳壳), Platycodonis Radix (Jiegeng, 桔梗), Zijin Pi, and Chishao. Additionally, it is suitable to prick the swollen area with a three-edged needle to bleed. If it is a half-exterior half-interior syndrome with swelling and pain in the chest and diaphragm, use Xiaochaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction) added with Jiegeng, Gualou Ren, Zijin Pi, and Chishao.
Liangge San Prescription Composition:

Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao, 甘草)
Gardeniae Fructus (Zhizi, 栀子) (stir-fried until black)
Scutellariae Radix (Huang Qin, 黄芩) (stir-fried with wine)
Menthae Haplocalycis Herba (Bohe, 薄荷)
Add Lophatheri Herba (Zhuye, 竹叶) and raw honey for decoction.
