Its symptoms include throat obstruction, inability to swallow food and water, lockjaw, and unconsciousness. Treat with Yangshi Yizi San (Yang's One-Character Powder).
Realgar (washed with water) Scorpion tip Calcined alum Veratrum root Soap pod (roasted until charred, equal parts)
Grind the above ingredients into a fine powder. Take an amount the size of a bean, insert it into the nose, and snuff it for immediate effect.
Its symptoms include sudden redness, swelling, and pain in both eyes; this is also a type of epidemic disease. Treat with Jiuku Tang (Decoction for Saving from Suffering).
Cinnamon Twig Forsythia (septum removed) Safflower Asarum Angelica sinensis tail Licorice (each 1.5 qian) Atractylodes macrocephala (soaked in rice wash, baked) Gentian root (each 0.7 qian) Notopterygium Rhizome Scutellaria Baicalensis Ephedra Bupleurum Saposhnikovia Ligusticum Chuanxiong Phellodendron Bark (each 1 qian) Coptis Rhizome (0.5 qian) Rehmannia Root Anemarrhena Rhizome (stir-fried, each 1 qian) White Peony Root (2 qian)
Take after meals.
Its symptoms include body pain with visible cyanotic veins. Rub the painful area with loose hair; if the hair curls into a hard ball, it confirms this condition. Drink a strong decoction of Honeysuckle Flower. If not cured, add Licorice. If the hair does not curl or harden, it is not this condition; do not take the medicine. Instead, examine the pulse and concurrent symptoms to treat accordingly.
Its symptoms include mental restlessness, shortness of breath, headache, neck stiffness, dizziness and feeling like falling when standing up, slight fever, trembling and uneasiness, occasional aversion to cold, nausea with dry heaving (vomiting without substance). Take fresh pig manure (any amount), mix it well in high-quality yellow wine, filter the green juice through fine white silk, drink it hot in one dose, and finish the entire preparation. Cover with thick blankets, keep warm, lie prone to induce sweating. In cold weather, burn charcoal indoors to maintain warmth and avoid cold; if cold, sweat will not occur. Once sweating occurs, wait until the sweat dries before getting up. Avoid wind and cold. Concurrently treat malaria, wind-lao, and insect toxins.
Its symptoms begin with sudden coma and loss of consciousness; if not treated urgently, death ensues. Urgently have the patient chew raw soybeans; if they taste sweet and not fishy, it is appropriate. Take one copper coin printed with the character "He" from a curtain, place it in the throat where it will dissolve immediately. Some cases are cured after dissolving three or four coins.
Its symptoms include abdominal pain radiating to the heart, distension and fullness in both hypochondria, back pain radiating upward to cause headache, extreme pain leading to whole-body rigidity, fainting, and near-death state. Observe that there must be a red thread on the upper abdomen. At the location two fingers below the xiphoid process (heart mouth), puncture and cut off the red thread. Also puncture two spots at the ends of the lower ribs using the same method. On the back, corresponding to the Shenshu (BL23) acupoint aligned with the umbilicus, puncture two spots half a finger-width above and below, using the same method. Cut off all coiled red threads completely. Fill the punctured wounds with Alum powder until full, then rub the area by hand to cure. Avoid fishy, cold foods, tofu, all types of beans, and all creeping plants. After three days, consume "fa-wu" (hair-raising/triggering foods) to promote the discharge of the punctured sores.
