Jiu Dan (Alcohol-induced Jaundice) refers to a condition in individuals who habitually consume alcohol, where dampness and fire pathogens steam and scorch the body, causing yellowing of the face and eyes. If severe, the complexion may turn black. Patients experience gastric discomfort (Zhongxin Zaoca), feeling as though they are eating sour and spicy foods even when consuming sweet and fragrant ones. Urine is red and scanty with dysuria. The primary treatment is Yinchen Yulu Yin (Inula Jade Dew Decoction).

Nv Lao Dan (Female Exhaustion Jaundice) presents with urgency and tension in the bladder, fullness in the lower abdomen, generalized jaundice, blackening of the forehead, heat in the soles of the feet, black stools that are occasionally loose. This condition arises from blood stasis obstructing flow and accumulating in the bladder and lower abdomen. Therefore, Zhang Zhongjing used Xiaoshi Fanshi San (Nitro-Stone and Alum Stone Powder) to vigorously attack the stasis, which was highly appropriate. However, the constitution of modern people is far inferior to that of ancients; using vigorous attacking methods would further damage Yuan Qi (Primary Qi). Thus, a method to unblock and drain the Lower Jiao while removing stasis is proposed, primarily using Taohua Huazhuo Tang (Peach Blossom Turbidity-Transforming Decoction).
