When spreading the plaster, add the herbal powder at the time of use: for every jin (approx. 500g) of oil, add one liang (approx. 37.3g) of powder. Rougui (Cinnamon Twig, 1 liang), Zhiruxiang (Processed Frankincense, 2 liang), Zhimoyao (Processed Myrrh, 2 liang), Xuexie (Dragon's Blood, 2 liang), Longgu (Fossilized Bones, 1 liang), Dingxiang (Cloves, 1 liang). Grind all the above into an extremely fine powder and store in a porcelain bottle for future use. Whenever I encounter Fengqi (a term referring to stubborn skin sores or neuropathic pain conditions), applying this plaster yields effects more rapid than the Wanying Gao (Universal Plaster) sold in the market.
It is specifically indicated for Dingchuang (furuncles/carbuncles), Yongju (abscesses), Duikou Fabei (carbuncle located at the center of the back of the neck), and any nameless severe toxic swellings in the neck and nape area. Songxiang (Rosin, 1 jin, boiled with Congxin water/Shallot water), Shexiang (Musk, 5 fen). If Shexiang is expensive, it can be alternatively replaced by adding Bajiang San (Eight Generals Powder), Bingpian (Borneol, 5 fen), Zhiruxiang (Processed Frankincense, 5 qian), Zhimoyao (Processed Myrrh, 5 qian), Zhangnao (Camphor, 3 liang 5 qian), Yinzhu (Vermilion/Cinnabar precipitate, 1 liang, washed/purified), Zhusha (Cinnabar, 2 qian, ground and washed), Bimazi Rou (Castor Bean Flesh, 5 liang), Xingren (Apricot Seed, 150 grains, peeled and de-husked), Ming Xionghuang (Real Realgar, 2 qian), Quanxie (Whole Scorpion, 2 qian 5 fen, washed with shallot water). Each ingredient is ground into a fine powder, beaten thousands of times to form the plaster, stored in a porcelain jar, and softened by warming in water before use. Apply onto ordinary oil-paper plasters. The amount used should be adjusted according to the size of the lesion.
It treats severe toxicity from Yongju (abscesses), with functions of drawing out pus, removing necrotic tissue, and promoting flesh regeneration. Chuan Wubeizi (Chinese Gall, 1 liang 6 qian, baked and ground), Chuan Xionghuang (Realgar, 3 qian, processed by water levigation), Bingpian (Borneol, 5 fen), Wugong (Centipede, 7 strips, claws and feet removed, roasted clean, 1 qian 2 fen), Quanxie (Whole Scorpion, 10 pieces, washed clean, tails removed, roasted to powder, 7 fen), Shexiang (Musk, 5 fen), Shanjiya (Pangolin Scales, 10 slices, roasted clean, 2 qian), Chantui (Cicada Slough, 20 pieces, heads and feet removed, baked and ground clean, 7 fen). Grind each into fine powder, mix evenly, grind again until fine, and store in a porcelain bottle.
