(Qingxin Lianzi Yin, from *Taiping Huimin Heji Jufang*) Composed of Nelumbinis Semen (Shi Lian Zi), Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma (Ren Shen), Bupleuri Radix (Chai Hu), and Poria Cocos with Red Core (Chi Fu Ling). It also includes Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gan Cao), Ophiopogonis Radix (Mai Dong), and Plantaginis Semen (Che Qian Zi), which can alleviate restlessness, thirst, as well as metrorrhagia (Beng Beng) and stranguria (Lin Zheng). [Nelumbinis Semen, Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, Bupleuri Radix, and Poria Cocos with Red Core are each used in 3 qian; Scutellariae Radix (wine-fried), Phlomis Radix (Di Gu Pi), Ophiopogonis Radix, and Plantaginis Semen, along with Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (roasted), are each used in 2 qian. Ginseng Radix et Rhizoma, Astragali Radix (Huang Qi), and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma tonify deficiency and drain fire; Bupleuri Radix and Phlomis Radix reduce fever and calm the Liver; Scutellariae Radix and Ophiopogonis Radix clear heat in the Upper Jiao; Poria Cocos with Red Core and Plantaginis Semen promote diuresis to remove dampness in the Lower Jiao; Nelumbinis Semen is used centrally to facilitate communication between the Heart and Kidney.]
(Liang Di Yin / Yin Chen Hao Tang variant principles, from *Taiping Huimin Heji Jufang*) Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata) and Shu Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata) combined with Yin Chen Hao (Artemisiae Scopariae Herba), along with Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix), Zhi Ke (Aurantii Fructus), Pi Pa Ye (Loquat Leaf), and Shi Hu (Dendrobii Caulis). Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Tian Dong (Asparagi Radix), and Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Radix) pacify Stomach heat. [Decocted in equal parts. Sheng Di Huang, Shu Di Huang, Gan Cao, and Shi Hu pacify deficient heat in the Spleen and Stomach, offering both clearing and tonifying effects; Huang Qin and Yin Chen Hao reduce heat and eliminate warm pathogens; Zhi Ke and Pi Pa Ye suppress rebellious Qi and descend fire.] If Fu Ling (Poria) and Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex) are added, it is named Guiling Ganlu Yin. The *Baoshi Fang* adds Xi Jiao (Rhinocerotis Cornu).
(Qingwei San, created by Li Dongyuan) Uses Sheng Ma ( Cimicifugae Rhizoma) and Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma), combined with Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata), and Mu Dan Pi (Moutan Cortex). Gypsum (Shi Gao) may be added to pacify Stomach heat. It treats mouth ulcers, hematemesis (Tu Xue), epistaxis (Bi Nu), and periodontal bleeding (Ya Xuan). [Huang Lian drains Heart Fire and also Spleen Fire; Mu Dan Pi and Sheng Di Huang cool blood heat; Dang Gui guides blood back to its vessels; Shi Gao drains Fire of Yin and Yang; Sheng Ma raises the clear Yang of the Yangming channel. Wang Ang's note: Ancients often used Sheng Ma for treating blood disorders. However, ascending herbs should ultimately not be administered lightly.]
(Xiehuang San) Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) and Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), supplemented by Shi Gao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Zhi Zi (Gardeniae Fructus), and Huo Xiang (Agastaches Herba). After stir-frying until fragrant, mix with honey and wine for administration. It is effective for Stomach heat-induced mouth ulcers. [Fang Feng 4 liang, Gan Cao 2 liang, Hei Zhi Zi (Black Gardeniae Fructus) 1 liang, Huo Xiang 7 qian, Shi Gao 5 qian. Zhi Zi and Shi Gao drain Lung and Stomach fire; Huo Xiang dispels malignancy and harmonizes the Middle Jiao; Gan Cao tonifies the Spleen and drains heat. Fang Feng is used in heavy dosage because it can vent latent fire within the Spleen and drain Wood within Earth.]
