If the cold damage disease (Shanghan) has not yet been differentiated into Yin or Yang syndromes, this medicine must not be taken.
It treats Cold Damage due to Yin and Yang dual toxins. It is indicated for cases where premature purgation leads to Yang collapse, or where pathogens become knotted and stagnant in the chest and diaphragm, resulting in cold limbs, pulse imperceptible, and mental restlessness as if burning with fire. It also treats conditions caused by cold food injuring the Spleen, leading to radiating pain around the navel; or hard-to-digest food entering the Stomach, causing fullness and obstruction in the middle Jiao, with periodic alternating chills and fever. It simultaneously treats regurgitation, hiccups, cholera-like disorder, vomiting and dysentery, Xiao Chang Pi (Small Intestine Hernia), and Qi stagnation pain in the hypochondrium. It treats all adverse symptoms of disharmony between Yin and Yang, and complicated cases of Cold Damage due to mismanagement. Take one pill at a time: place it in charcoal fire until red hot, remove after a while, let it cool, grind finely into powder. Decoct with one cup of rice water until reduced to 70%, take warm. Time is not restricted. Administer another dose after half an hour. The efficacy is miraculous. It also treats inverted eruption of infantile exanthema (Dao Yan). Follow the method and take half a pill; recovery is immediate.
Ingredients include: Jin Xing Shi (Venus Stone), Tai Yin Xuan Jing Shi (Tai Yin Crystal Mineral), Yin Xing Shi (Silver Star Stone), Yun Mu Shi (Mica, white flakes), Dai Zhe Shi (Hematite), Gui Fu Hua Shi (Guifu Talcum), Yu Yu Shi (Yuyuliu, Halloysitum Rubrum) (each 1 liang above), Han Shui Shi (Cold Water Stone, from Jizhou, 1.5 liang), Bu Hui Mu (Non-ash Wood, 1 liang, green-black color, soft texture).
Place the above nine ingredients in a porcelain bottle. Add half a sheng of charcoal and calcine. When the fire consumes half, remove, let cool, and grind into fine powder. Use glutinous rice porridge as a binder to make pills, size of a bullet, dry before use. (This formula specifically treats complicated Cold Damage; one dose can save a life.)
This pill consists of substances born from the initial generation of Yin and Yang, the essence of the initial generation of Qi, Essence, and Blood, presumably transformed from the true Qi of the Yuan Palace. Cultivators who ingest it can repair deficiencies, strengthen Qi, consolidate Spirit, benefit Marrow, connect with Divine illumination, prolong life, increase Daoist attainment, and transcend worldly limits. It is the foundation of Internal Alchemy. The specific ingestion method is as follows. (Effective for those without offspring for a long time.)
Raw material: First-born baby's clothing (Do not use clothes from babies born in the second or eighth lunar month. Collect them together with the umbilical cord blood).
Wash thoroughly with running water, drain, place in a porcelain bottle. Add three large sheng of non-ash Fa wine, Nao Zi (Borneol), and She Xiang (Musk). Add according to capacity, maximum one qian, or half zi. Seal the bottle mouth with paper. Heat underneath with Wen Huo (gentle fire) and Wu Huo (vigorous fire). When the wine is almost consumed, remove. Add three more sheng of wine. Repeat the previous process. Stir continuously with a bamboo or gold/silver spatula until it resembles a thick, mushy paste. Let cool, transfer to a mortar, grind into fine powder. Set aside for external ingredients.
Ingredients include: Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix, 2 liang), Fu Ling (Poria, 2 liang), Ru Xiang (Olibanum, 0.5 liang), Zhu Sha (Cinnabar, 0.5 liang, processed by water flotation, dried and purified), Shan Yao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma, 4 liang).
Grind all the above into fine powder. Ensure high quality for Ginseng and others.
Add the above medicinal powders to the decocted liquid. If it becomes too dry, add the original wine gradually. Mix well, stir and knead into pills, size of Sophora seeds. Dry slowly over gentle fire. Take fifty pills on an empty stomach daily, increasing to one hundred pills. Swallow with warm wine or light salt water. After some time, eat a filling meal of sweet and bland food to suppress the drug's force. Reduce the five flavors (sweet, bland, salty, etc.) in meat dishes daily. After five to seven days of ingestion, one may feel slight heaviness in the lower abdomen extending to the waist. Do not worry; this is the drug attacking pathogens and the Yuan Qi assisting.
