Monopterus albus (Eel)
Take several Monopterus albus, beat them to death. First, apply oil to their bellies, place them on the patient's leg, arranging them to encircle the affected area, and secure tightly with a cloth. After a short while, the patient will feel unbearable pain. Then remove the eels; you will see needle-eye-sized holes on the eel's belly, all containing parasites. Once the parasites are completely removed, apply ash from calcified human tibia bone to the wound, which will lead to recovery. (Shen Cunzhong's Liang Fang also records using live eels to treat fistula sores.)
Xuan Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma, remove roots, soak in wine overnight)
Dry the above herb by roasting, grind into powder, and make pills with honey the size of Sophora japonica seeds. Take twenty pills on an empty stomach, at noon, and before bed, swallowed with wine. Dongpo said that Yao Huan, a military officer in Huizhou, was over eighty years old, yet his beard and hair were not white, claiming he was only sixty. He suffered from tinea and scabies covering his head to his heels; someone advised him to take Coptidis Rhizoma, after which he recovered. Long-term use kept his hair from turning white.
Moxibustion on Fengshi (GB31) acupoints: two points are used, with a greater number of moxa cones being preferable. Cai Yuanzhang, serving as Vice Prefect of Kaifeng, was once sitting at his desk when he suddenly felt insects crawling from the sole of his foot up to his waist. He dropped his brush and fainted, regaining consciousness only after a long time. His subordinates said: "This illness cannot be treated except by Dr. Yu." Upon summoning him, Dr. Yu said: "This is true Hong Kong Foot [a term for severe lower limb damp-heat/swelling], moxibustion on Fengshi with one cone will eliminate the pathogen." The next day, he felt insects crawling from the foot stopping at Fengshi; on the third day, the illness returned to its original state. Summoning Dr. Yu again, he said: "This illness requires a thousand moxa cones; the previous cone exhausted its therapeutic force, hence the relapse." Cai followed his advice, underwent hundreds of moxibustions, and was cured thereafter. (Shen Gongya, Inspector General, stated: In the Xinsi year of Shaoxing, I resided in Wumen, repairing the prefectural residence for imperial inspection and concurrently governing Wu County. The county was low-lying and damp, where I initially contracted foot bi [numbness/pain]. Using Fengshi as the primary point, and additionally moxibusting Jianyu (SI9), Quchi (LI11), and Zusanli (ST36), I was cured immediately.)
Venomous qi has entered the abdomen, presenting with cyanosis, swelling, and unbearable pain. (Hanlin Zhuansmission of Tang Sanyi from Taiping Prefecture.)
Take raw Alum (Alumen) ground into powder. Observe the size of the bitten wound, then scoop the alum powder onto the tip of a knife, melt it until boiling, and drip the hot liquid onto the wound while boiling; the pain will cease instantly. If the venomous qi in the abdomen has not subsided, and cyanosis and swelling persist, take two handfuls of leaves of Cassia obtusifolia (Cassiae Semen Leaf), grind to extract natural juice, and drink it mixed with hot wine. Apply the remaining dregs to the wound and bind lightly with soft silk.
