To treat various cases of bone hardness in children, leading to swelling and pain in the throat.
Five-leaf gall powder (1 liang) and early spring tea powder (0.5 liang).
Mix the above two ingredients evenly. Take 1 qian, dissolve it in half a zhan of warm water, and swallow small amounts at any time. Following this method for no more than three to five doses will yield effective results. If there is excessive bleeding from protruding bones or punctured areas, take 6 qian of borax powder, decocted in water and mixed with Xiaodu Yin (Decoction for Disinfecting Toxins), until bleeding stops, pain ceases, swelling subsides, and appetite returns.
To treat excessive residual toxins from smallpox, causing widespread ulceration of the body and persistent pus discharge.
Yellow earth (any amount; it is best to dig deep from a shaded area in the wild).
Place the aforementioned yellow earth on the ground and roast thoroughly over charcoal fire. After cooling, grind it into a dry powder. Use a silk or gauze bag to apply the powder to the affected area. Simultaneously, administer medicines that resolve residual toxins, and avoid foods that induce wind or generate heat.
To regulate spleen deficiency complicated by wind-cold-dampness pathogens, transforming into vomiting and diarrhea, cold extremities, abdominal pain with phlegm, as well as yin-type rectal prolapse, hernia, and night sweats.
Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata, prepared as previously described) [2.5 qian], Gancao (Licorice Root, half raw and half honey-fried, [2.5 qian]), Renshen (Ginseng Root, radix removed, [7.5 qian]), Xixin (Asari Root, leaves removed, [1.5 qian]), Jiegeng (Platycodon Root, sliced and stir-fried, [5 qian]), Nonggui (Cinnamon Bark, outer bark removed), Baifuling (Poria, peel removed), Chuan Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix, these three ingredients each [2 qian]), Banxia (Pinellia Tuber, prepared as previously described, [3 qian]).
Chop the above ingredients. For each dose, use 2 qian, add one zhan of water and two slices of ginger, decoct until reduced to 0.7 zhan, and take warm at any time. Alternatively, decoct with dates.
To treat zouma gan (gangrenous stomatitis), characterized by blackened and decayed teeth.
Metou seng (Lithargyri Pulvis, [1 liang]), Qingfen (Calomelas, [50 tie]), Shexiang (Moschus, [one zi]).
Grind the above ingredients into powder. Mix thoroughly with Calomelas and Moschus in a mortar. Apply 0.5 qian to the affected area each time.
The meaning of "Baolong" (Embracing Dragon): "Bao" means to protect; "Long" refers to the Liver. The Liver corresponds to the Azure Dragon of the East and Wood element. Wood generates Fire; thus, the generator is considered the parent. The Liver is the mother, and the Heart is the child; if the mother is peaceful, the child is peaceful. Moreover, the Heart houses the Shen (Spirit), and the Liver houses the Hun (Ethereal Soul). Once the Shen and Hun are settled, where would fright arise? Hence, it is called Baolong Wan (Dragon Embracing Pill). It regulates various types of fright disorders in children, seasonal colds, and pathogenic heat from wind-cold-dampness epidemics, which cause restlessness, cough with phlegm, and rapid breathing, as well as convulsions during the eruption phase of rashes. It is suitable for all these conditions. Its medicinal nature is warm and neutral, neither harsh nor drying. Regular consumption expels wind and resolves phlegm, calms the heart and clears heat, harmonizes the spleen and stomach, and benefits the spirit.
Zhen Hupo (True Amber), Tianzhu Huang (Bambusae Concretio Silicea), Tanxiang (Sandalwood, finely sliced), Renshen (Ginseng Root, radix removed), Baifuling (Poria, peel removed; these five ingredients each [1.5 liang]), Fugan (Licorice Root, [3 liang, nodes removed]), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus, prepared as previously described), Zhishi (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus, prepared as previously described; these two ingredients each [1 liang]), Shuifei Zhusha (Cinnabaris, washed by water flotation [5 liang]; first remove iron filings with crushed stones, then grind finely in a water mortar, collect the floating portion, clarify in a clean vessel, discard excess water, and repeat this refinement process until completely dry), Shanyao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma, peeled [1 jin], sliced into small pieces, stir-fried slowly until thoroughly hot, then cooled before use), Nanxing (Arisaematis Rhizoma, [1 liang], sliced and fermented in bile of a wax yellow ox for one summer), Jinbo (Gold Leaf, [100 pieces]; remove protective paper to obtain an equivalent weight of 1 liang of finished product, grind extremely finely in a mortar together with the other powders, and mix evenly).
Of the twelve ingredients mentioned above, except for Cinnabaris and Gold Leaf which are not ground initially, the remaining ten ingredients are processed: Sandalwood is not roasted, while the other nine are either sun-dried or baked. They are ground together into powder. Mix evenly with Cinnabaris and Gold Leaf. For every 1 liang of powder, add 1 liang of fresh well water, return to the mortar, and mix briefly. Form into pills the size of a circle ○. Dry them in the shade; if sunny, expose slightly. If the sun is too intense and causes cracking, place them in a ventilated area to dry naturally.
Administration methods: Dissolve and take with scallion decoction at any time, or with mint decoction. For severe phlegm obstruction and cough, take with light ginger decoction. For smallpox eruption accompanied by fright, take with warm pure decoction. For palpitations and unrest, take with Centella Decoction. For summer heat confusion, take with熟 (cooked) Ophiopogon Decoction. For infants within 100 days, divide one pill into three doses; for children over two years old, give one or two pills. If even one ingredient is missing during preparation, or if the procedure is not strictly followed, the medicine will be ineffective. Store commonly in a clay jar with Moschus to prevent scent loss. Add 1 liang of Zhenzhu Powder (Pearl Powder) and mix; this is named Jinzhu San (Gold-Pearl Powder). Pearl can calm the heart, soothe the liver, and is particularly effective in descending phlegm. Administration methods are the same as above. This medicine is a family secret recipe, intended for self-refinement and sale. It is widely trusted and sought after. Now, with sincere intent to benefit others, I wish to share it with the world, not out of arrogance, but solely for the sake of preserving infants.
