[Xiehuang San]

Relieves swelling diseases in the middle jiao (middle burner), characterized by edema and distension of the skin and subcutaneous tissues of the four limbs, and difficulty in urination and defecation. These conditions are caused by heat accumulation in the Bladder (Bladder organ) combined with the invasion of Wind-Dampness (Wind and Damp pathogens).
Baiqianniu (Semen Koelreuteriae, half raw and half stir-fried, crushed) Sangbaipi (Cortex Mori Radicis, chopped and stir-fried) Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae) Mutong (Caulis Akebiae, peeled and nodes removed) Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, white pith removed) Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae, each of the above six herbs is 0.5 liang)
Chop the aforementioned herbs. Take 2 qian per dose, add one zhan of water, decoct until reduced to 0.7 zhan, and take warm at any time.

Treats black depression of smallpox lesions, which occurs when toxic qi invades the Kidney (Kidney organ) and manifests externally.
Shexiang (Moschus, a small amount) Huoren Yachi (Human teeth from living persons, quantity unspecified, calcined; teeth that fall out naturally from children are preferred)
Grind these two ingredients together into powder. Take 0.5 to 1 qian per dose, mixed with warm wine without ash. Administer only once. Although this medicine is effective, human teeth are difficult to obtain; therefore, Jinying Cigen (Root bark of Crataegus cuneata) should be used as an alternative for efficacy.

Treats all kinds of heat-toxin sores on the body in children, causing dryness, itching, and exudate that does not dry after scratching.
Jing Huanglian (Rhizoma Coptidis, purified) Huangbai (Cortex Phellodendri) Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae) Dahuang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei) Huashi (Talcum, each of the above five herbs is 0.5 liang) Wubeizi (Galla Chinensis, free from internal insect debris, 2.5 qian)
Chop and sun-dry the aforementioned herbs, then grind into powder. Mix 2 to 3 qian with refined sesame oil and tung oil, and apply topically to the affected area. Internally administer Sishun Yin (Four-Compliance Decoction) and Xiaodu Yin (Detoxification Decoction).

Treats rectal prolapse due to Yang-pattern syndromes.
Bohe (Herba Menthae, with stems) Gusuibu (Rhizoma Drynariae, hair removed, each of the first two herbs is 0.5 liang) Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae, 2.5 qian) Jinying Cigen (Root bark of Crataegus cuneata, 7.5 qian)
Chop the aforementioned herbs. Take 2 qian per dose, add one zhan of water and one large spoonful of wine without ash, decoct until reduced to 0.7 zhan, and take warm on an empty stomach or at any time.

Relieves swelling and pain caused by scrofula (Luo Li, tuberculous lymphadenitis).
Hupi (Quercus variabilis bark, coarse outer bark must be removed; this tree is common everywhere, also known as the bark of the salt-wrapping oak leaf tree)
Take an unspecified amount of the aforementioned herb, chop finely, boil in water, and frequently wash the affected area when the water temperature is suitable.

Treats non-healing suppurative scrofula with persistent discharge.
Baiji (Bulbus Bletillae) Beimu (Bulbus Fritillariae Cirrhosae) Jing Huanglian (Rhizoma Coptidis, purified, each of the above three herbs is 0.5 liang) Qingfen (Calomelas, 30 tie)
Chop and bake the first three herbs, then grind into powder. Place Calomelas in a mortar and grind evenly with the powder. Take 1 to 2 qian, mix with refined sesame oil, and apply topically to the affected area. First, wash the area thoroughly with boiled Hupi decoction (Oak Bark Decoction) at a warm temperature, dry it completely, and then apply the medication.
