Shenxian Duoming Dan (Immortal Life-Rescuing Pill) is specifically used to treat Yishi (dysphagia, difficulty in swallowing food).
Thirteen Wumei (Mume Fruit, *Prunus mume*) (soaked in water, pitted, and pounded into a paste), Er Qian of Sha (Sand/Mineral, likely referring to Boshan or Sharen based on context, kept as original term), Xionghuang (Realgar, *Realgar*), and Wu Qian of Baicaoshuang (Soot from burning straw) together with Sizi Jiu Li of Ludou (Mung Bean, *Vigna radiata*) and Sizi Jiu Li of Heidou (Black Soybean, *Glycine max*).
Grind all ingredients into powder, mix with the Mume paste, and pound again to form pills the size of a bullet. Coat with Yi Qian of Ruxiang (Frankincense, *Boswellia carterii*) and a small amount of Zhusha (Cinnabar, *Cinnabaris*), then dry in the shade. Take one pill by holding it in the mouth to dissolve on an empty stomach. After the medicine has completely dissolved, immediately eat one hot biscuit soaked in tea. This method has been verified as effective. If there are no adverse effects after three to five days, take another pill, and the disease will be cured.
Single prescription for treating dysphagia: Xifang (Fine Bran, specifically from the pestle head), formed into pills the size of a bullet with honey. Take one pill each time, hold in the mouth to dissolve, and swallow with saliva.
Another prescription:
Lanjie Zhi (Indigo Naturalis Juice) treats dysphagia with miraculous effect.
Another prescription:
Er Jin Ban of Baifeng (Wheat Flour), steamed into a large mantou (steamed bun). Make an opening at the top and hollow it out. Fill it completely with Zaofan (Alum, *Alumen*). Cover the sides with four new tiles, seal tightly with salt mud, place it in a dug-out earth kiln, and burn with gentle and strong fire for a day and night. When it turns red, take it out, grind it into fine powder, and form pills the size of tung seeds using jujube flesh. Take twenty pills on an empty stomach. Avoid alcohol and sexual activity.
Additional Remarks:
Yeqi (Qi stagnation causing dysphagia) and Geqi (Qi stagnation causing chest obstruction) are both caused by Qi disorders. If Geqi is not treated properly, phlegm accumulates and transforms into Fanwei (vomiting and regurgitation), which is extremely critical. The ancients stated that Feng (Wind), Lao (Consumption), Gubuzhang (Abdominal Distension), and Gezhen (Obstruction Syndrome) are diseases that are truly difficult to cure, so as to warn the world. Nowadays, people suffering from Phlegm-Fire in the chest region are considered by experts to be in extreme danger, yet they pay no attention to it. Only when Fanwei has already formed do they say they fear it might become Gezhen; this is a mistake of confusing "Ge" (obstruction) with "Ge" (diaphragm/chest). One must not know that Fanwei is an extremely critical condition; if Fanwei leads to death due to obstruction, what more is there to say? Therefore, detailed discussions are provided in the Fanwei chapter. In clinical practice, prescriptions should be consulted comprehensively.
