When a pregnant woman suffers from unstable fetal qi, experiencing occasional mild abdominal pain or a heavy bearing-down sensation in the lower abdomen, along with poor appetite, it is advisable to administer Danxi Antai Yin (Danxi's Fetus-Stabilizing Decoction). One or two doses will bring relief. If the deficiency lies in the Middle Qi (Spleen and Stomach Qi), Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) is also effective.
Danxi Antai Yin (Danxi's Fetus-Stabilizing Decoction)
Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Shudi (Prepared Radix Rehmanniae), Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae) (each 2 qian), Renshen (Radix Ginseng) (1 qian), Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong), Huangqin (Cortex Scutellariae) (8 fen), Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae), Zisu (Folium Perillae), Zhigancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata) (each 5 fen), Sharen (Fructus Amomi) (3 fen).
Decoct with fresh ginger and jujube for oral administration.
Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction)
Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) (3 qian), Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae), Huangqi (Radix Astragali) (each 2 qian), Chaihu (Radix Bupleuri) (1 qian), Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae) (8 fen), Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae) (5 fen), Zhigancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata) (5 fen).
During pregnancy, if the fetus agitates the heart region causing loss of consciousness, this is due to the pregnant woman having overconsumed spicy and hot toxic substances such as Sichuan pepper and ginger, which accumulate in the uterus. This is akin to covering oneself with cotton quilts in midsummer, suffering from excessive heat; the fetus moves restlessly, attacking upwards towards the Pericardium, causing distress to the mother. It is appropriate to use Tiaozhong Heqi San (Regulate the Middle and Harmonize the Qi Powder) combined with Shenghong Wan (Victory Red Pill). Administering two or three doses to promote bowel movement will ensure the safety of both mother and child.
Tiaozhong Heqi San (Regulate the Middle and Harmonize the Qi Powder)
Dahuang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) (each 1 qian), Binglang (Areca Seed), Zhike (Fructus Aurantii Immaturus), Huangqin (Cortex Scutellariae), Zhimu (Rhizoma Anemarrhenae) (each 6 fen), Huanglian (Rhizoma Coptidis) (6 fen), Chaihu (Radix Bupleuri) (3 fen), Huangbai (Cortex Phellodendri) (5 fen).
Take on an empty stomach.
Shenghong Wan (Victory Red Pill)
Honghuazi (Seed Carthami Tinctorii, oil removed, 10 seeds), Baicaoshuang (Soot from burning hundred herbs) (1 qian).
Grind into powder, form pills using rice paste, and swallow seven pills with scallion decoction.
This condition arises from overconsumption of raw and cold foods, compounded by wind-cold invading the Lung and Stomach meridians, leading to phlegm production and rapid breathing.
Zisu Antai San (Perilla Fetus-Stabilizing Powder)
Zisu (Folium Perillae), Zhishi (Fructus Aurantii), Jiegeng (Radix Platycodonis), Dafupi (Pericarpium Arecae), Beimu (Bulbus Fritillariae Cirrhosae), Zhimu (Rhizoma Anemarrhenae), Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) (each 8 fen), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) (each 3 fen), Sangbaipi (Cortex Mori Radicis) (8 fen).
Grind into powder and take with water.
When fetal qi is disharmonious, turbid qi rises and pushes the fetus upward, causing distension and pain in the hypochondrium and abdomen, known as Zixuan (Floating Fetus). The treatment principle should be to regulate qi and stabilize the fetus.
Zisu Yin (Perilla Decoction)
Zisu (Folium Perillae), Gaolishen (Korean Ginseng), Dafupi (Pericarpium Arecae), Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong), Baishao (Radix Paeoniae Alba), Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae), Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, pith removed), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae) (each 1 qian), Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, soaked in wine, 2 qian), Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger) (3 slices), Congbai (Scallion White) (1 stalk).
Take on an empty stomach.
This syndrome often involves qi stagnation; without Zisu, Dafupi, Chenpi, and Chuanxiong, the qi cannot be dispersed. Without Danggui and Baishao, the blood cannot flow smoothly. Once the qi flows freely and the blood circulates well, the fetus naturally descends. Where pathogenic factors gather, there must be a deficiency of healthy qi. Therefore, Renshen and Gancao are used to tonify. This combination of tonification and purging eliminates the old and generates the new.
