Du Ru (Breast Jealousy), referring to the condition occurring after childbirth where the infant fails to suckle, leading to milk stasis; or when breast distension occurs and manual expression fails to empty the ducts completely. These situations cause milk accumulation and knotting, which combats with Qi and Blood, resulting in high fever, extreme thirst with a desire to drink, hardness and rigidity of the breast with pulling pain, making it intolerable to touch. If recognized at the initial stage, milk should be expressed by hand, and assistance should be sought from others to suckle and drain it. Otherwise, it may develop into an ulcer with pus, and with intense heat, inevitably form an abscess. Mild cases are called Chui Ru (Blown Breast) or Du Ru, while severe cases become Abscesses. Although this is the specialty of dedicated practitioners, physicians must not be ignorant of it.

Despite various treatments, it does not heal, persisting for months or even a year. This is named Du Ru. It is suitable to wash with Chi Long Pi Tang (Red Dragon Bark Decoction) and Tian Ma Tang (Gastrodia Decoction), then apply Er Wu Tang (Two-Ingredient Decoction), Fei Wu Gao (Flying Crow Ointment), and Fei Wu San (Flying Crow Powder). For newly onset cases, Huang Qin Lou Lu San (Scutellaria and Rhaponticum Powder) or Huang Lian Hu Fen San (Coptis and Lead White Powder) can be applied, both being excellent.
