Shiquan Jiyin Wan (Ten Complete Yin-Nourishing Pill) Commentary: Fertility depends on nourishing Yin. Humans typically have excess Yang/Qi and deficient Yin/Blood. Women's menstrual blood (Gui Shui) is easily depleted. Old formulas using pungent/hot/dry herbs to warm the uterus consume Yin/Blood. Women often have Qi stagnation turning to Fire and Blood stasis. Weak Spleen/Stomach cannot handle cooling Blood herbs. The principle is to nourish Blood, smooth Qi, regulate menstruation, tonify Spleen with sweet/warm herbs, and open depression with pungent/warm herbs.
Formula Composition: Danggui Shen (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) nourishes Blood and harmonizes Qi (Monarch); enters Heart, Spleen, Liver meridians. Shudihuang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata) tonifies Kidney Yuan Qi and generates Heart/Liver Blood. Chuanxiong (Rhizoma Chuanxiong) moves Blood and Qi (Minister). Renshen (Radix Ginseng) invigorates Blood and tonifies Lower Yuan. Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae) benefits Waist/Navel Blood and Spleen Qi. Xiangfu (Rhizoma Cyperi Rotundi) soothes Qi and disperses depression, assists Zelan to generate new Blood. Mudanpi (Cortex Moutan) nourishes new Blood, removes old Blood, resolves stagnation. Shanyao (Rhizoma Dioscoreae) strengthens Yin and tonifies deficiency. Gouqizi (Fructus Lycii) tonifies Kidney Water and stops bleeding/lower back pain. Zi Shiy ing (Lapis Magnetitae) tonifies Heart Qi, resolves stagnation, fills Lower Jiao. Aiye (Folium Artemisiae Argyi) warms Uterus and balances cold. Zhi Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata) harmonizes herbs and relieves Liver urgency (Envoy).
