Wanling Dan (Ten Thousand Spirits Pill) grows in sunny, south-facing areas and beside streams. It is named Aiduotuo (Dwarf Tuo Tuo), also known as Aihuai (Dwarf Locust), and further called Wannianqing (Evergreen). This medicinal tree has branches resembling those of a small locust tree; it does not wither in winter, does not dry up in summer, and does not shed leaves in autumn. The whole plant, including roots and leaves, is harvested, dried in the shade, and pounded into a fine powder. For every liang (approx. 37g) of this powder, add 3 fen (approx. 1.1g) of Gancao (Licorice Root, *Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma*). It treats various critical conditions, Shanghan (Cold Damage syndrome), paralysis, Wulao Qishang (Five Exhaustions and Seven Injuries, referring to chronic deficiency syndromes), Wind-Cold, Summer-Heat-Dampness, common cold, miasma, regardless of gender or age (including children). It addresses wind-diseases with phlegm and wheezing, seminal emission in men, red and white leukorrhea in women, irregular menstruation, vexatious heat in the five zang organs, unstable fetal qi, postpartum blood and qi attacking the heart (postpartum dysregulation causing chest discomfort), heart pain, vomiting, and hiccuping, bone damage leading to limping, abdominal distension due to intestinal parasites or gas, qi stagnation forming masses, and all other miscellaneous diseases.
When using this medicine, those with strong constitutions should take 5 fen, while those with weak constitutions should take 3 fen, administered according to the specific symptoms with appropriate guiding herbs.

Aiduotuo has green leaves, green stems, and black roots. It grows in sunny, south-facing places and beside streams. It does not wither in winter nor become lush again in spring. When fresh, there is white sap inside the stems; the texture is fine, shaped like a chrysanthemum flower; it bears black seeds. After many years, melon-like structures form on the roots. Yellow flowers are toxic and must not be used medicinally. White flowers are the best, followed by purple flowers; they treat many diseases.
