Songjun (Pine Mushroom), with a bitter, astringent, and bland taste, and a neutral nature. It specifically treats urinary retention or incontinence, can separate the clear from the turbid and promote water passage, and is also excellent for treating the five types of strangury (Shi Lin, Xue Lin, Gao Lin, Lao Lin, Qi Lin) and white turbidity (cloudy urine like rice washings); consuming it as food is most beneficial. People often claim this mushroom is toxic; however, it is not the mushroom itself that is toxic, but rather because snakes often lie beneath them. Therefore, ginger is used to test it, allowing people to know in advance whether it is toxic or not.
Zaojia Jun (Soap Pod Mushroom), has great toxicity. It should not be eaten. It treats pain caused by accumulated filth and stagnation; soak it in water to make a decoction and drink it to induce mild diarrhea; if symptoms persist, drink again. Consuming too much of this mushroom causes mental confusion.
Baiye Jian (Hundred-Leaf Tip), grows on rocks in mountains, is green, has a single small leaf, and is commonly known as Wugong Cao (Centipede Grass). Its taste is sour, astringent, and sweet. It is non-toxic. It treats all kinds of traumatic injuries, bone and tendon pain, limb numbness, and wind-dampness-induced flaccidity. Soak it in wine and take it orally; its effect is miraculous. It can also be applied externally to wounds.
Wugong Cao (Centipede Grass), tastes sweet, sour, and pungent, and has a neutral nature. It is non-toxic. It mainly treats bone and tendon pain, left hemiplegia and right paralysis, hemiplegia, and half-body emaciation and numbness. Using wine as a guiding agent, its effect is miraculous.
Jinxing Fengwei Cao (Venus Star Phoenix Tail Grass), tastes bitter and has a cold nature. (Note from ancient edition) It resolves sulfur toxicity, Shengdan toxicity, and Qinfen toxicity. Currently, it is used to wash acute red eye disease (acute conjunctivitis), blurred vision in the elderly, and to reduce corneal opacities covering the pupil. Boil in water, let cool to warm temperature, then use for washing or blow into the eye using a pen tube.
Jiejin Teng (Tendon-Binding Vine), resembles leather strips, has small leaves, hairy stems, and no flowers. Its taste is sweet, and its nature is neutral. It mainly treats traumatic injuries, disperses blood stasis and harmonizes blood, and relieves bone and tendon pain. Using wine as an auxiliary agent, recovery occurs immediately upon ingestion.
Jingu Cao (Bone-Tendon Grass), grows on large river rocks, also has green leaves, and no flowers. Its taste is sweet and sour. It is non-toxic. It mainly treats bone and tendon pain, phlegm generated by flowing dampness, hand tremors and leg weakness. Using burning wine as an auxiliary agent, cure is achieved immediately. (There are two types of Jingu Cao, which must be carefully distinguished.)
