The leaves of Yang Er Duo have a sour and bitter taste and are slightly warm in nature. The flowers are used as official medicinal materials under the name Mi Meng Hua (Buddleja officinalis). They enter the Foot Jueyin Liver Meridian to dispel wind, brighten the eyes, and reduce nebulae. Among all ophthalmic agents, it is considered the most excellent, as recorded in "Bie Jing" (Separate Classic). This materia medica primarily describes the efficacy of its branches and leaves.
Collect the leaves, grind them into powder, and apply to treat various carbuncles, sores, and ding toxins, especially those with ulceration forming sinus tracts and failing to regenerate tissue; application yields miraculous cures. For chronic yin ulcers without pus or blood after many years, topical application is also effective.
Dry the roots, leaves, and flowers together, grind into powder, add Xue Jie (Dragon's Blood) and Bing Pian (Borneol) to make an excellent preparation for knife wounds.
Grind the bark into fine powder, store in ceramic vessels, and carry on one's person. In cases of children suffering from eye nebulae caused by liver parasites, accompanied by black halos around the mouth, blow a pinch of this powder into the nose to save the patient. This herb is named "Chong Jian Si Cao" (Herb That Kills Parasites Upon Sight) because it can transform liver parasites into water.
