Grape (Vitis vinifera), available in crimson and green varieties, with the green variety being superior. It is sweet in taste and neutral in nature. Consumption promotes physical lightness and longevity. For the elderly, it greatly tonifies Qi and Blood, and relaxes the meridians while activating collaterals. It can be taken as a wine infusion. It treats Yin-Yang collapse syndromes and also treats night sweats and deficiency syndromes.
The leaves treat fire-eye (red, swollen, and painful eyes); the roots treat snake-head sores (ulcers characterized by redness, swelling, heat, and pain at the fingertips); the juice treats cough.
Boil into an electuary and mix with honey to treat nasal discharge (rhinorrhea) and various diseases; take one qian per dose, washed down with boiled water. It also treats infantile acute and chronic convulsions, taken with Perilla Leaf Decoction.
Method for preparing the electuary:
Grape (one jin), Apple (sixty pieces, peeled), Large yellow peach (twenty pieces, peeled), Huahong fruit (ten pieces, peeled). Pound them together and boil into an electuary, place in wine, bury in the earth for twenty-one days, then retrieve and drink. However, high-quality grain wine of twenty jin must be used. Avoid eating with meat dishes.

Grape, sweet and sour in taste, slightly warm in nature, non-toxic. It mainly treats damp-bi obstruction in muscles and bones, benefits Qi and strength, makes the person robust and healthy, and treats toxin from smallpox. Its nature moves downward, permeating the water passages and promoting urination. When fetal Qi rushes upward, decocting it into a soup and drinking it will cause the Qi to descend. It should not be eaten in excess. In the past, Li Bai brewed wine with it; frequent consumption could promote physical lightness and resistance to aging. However, only drinking three cups before sleep daily is effective; excessive intake yields no benefit. Collecting leaves and applying them to unnameable swellings and toxins is most effective.

Stone Grape, sweet in taste, non-toxic. Its shape resembles domestic grapes, but it is not commonly found in the wild; it grows on rocks. It is over one chi tall, with soft branches hanging downwards, and its fruits resemble small Wufan berries. Picking and eating it is a sacred medicine for turning grey hair black. It treats infantile smallpox, such as sunken crowns or ulcerated Du Gu sores, taking effect immediately upon ingestion.
── From "Wuben Juan Yi Shang"
Stone Grape grows on rock walls, hanging downwards. It is only one or two chi tall, resembling domestic grapes but with fruits as small as Wufan berries. Harvesting and consuming it turns grey hair black. It also treats infantile smallpox, aiding eruption and filling of pustules; sunken lesions can rise, and ulcerated lesions can flatten, with extraordinary efficacy.
