Xiangyuan (Citron), with a pungent aroma and warm nature, is non-toxic. It primarily descends Qi, eliminates phlegm-fluids from the heart region, and treats Phlegm-Qi cough. Decoction can treat lower abdominal Qi pain.
Note: Xiangyuan is found in Henan, Huguang, Zhejiang, and Fujian. Its fruit resembles that of citrus but is larger. In Yunnan, it becomes sharper and larger, sometimes exceeding one chi in length. Its therapeutic efficacy is slightly inferior to Foshougan. Traditional Materia Medica records only the name Foshougan; the original name for Xiangyuan is Gouyuan, and there is no record of "Xiangyuan." Is it placed here merely because its properties are similar to Foshougan?
