Jianglong (Ganoderma lucidum var.), also known as Pudi Hu, and further called Di Wugong. It tastes pungent and is of a strongly warm nature. It circulates through the twelve meridians of the entire body, disperses surface sweat, and treats wet-bi syndrome manifesting as numbness and insensitivity in the hands and feet, as well as phlegm caused by the movement of dampness. It addresses pain in the tendons and bones, whether due to traumatic injury damaging the tendons and bones or meridians, or strain injuries from excessive exertion causing tendon and bone pain. It can strengthen and relax the tendons, invigorate collaterals to alleviate pain, disperse wind-cold-dampness, and relieve pain and cold oppression in the shoulder and back. For body pain accompanied by heaviness and fatigue, calf cramps, tendon damage from cold-dampness, and distending, sore pain in the collaterals, this herb decocted in wine for relaxing tendons, invigorating collaterals, and alleviating pain yields miraculous effects. Place the herb in a jar, seal the mouth tightly to prevent gas leakage, and simmer in a pot over water for the duration of one incense stick. Remove it and expose it to the night air overnight to eliminate fire toxicity. Before use, warm the wine and take an appropriate amount.
Saotian Qingming Cao (Pteris semipinnata L.), also known as Fenghuang Wei, Fenghuang Cao, Pudi Hu, and Shujin Cao. It tastes sweet, sour, and bitter, and is of a hot nature. It is non-toxic. This herb resembles fennel with small leaves. It primarily treats all kinds of traumatic injuries; even if tendons and bones are fractured, topical application leads to healing with miraculous efficacy. Prepared as a medicine for knife wounds, applied to severe toxic sores, and taken internally for dysentery and hematuria (blood in urine), it yields miraculous results. It also treats "xue shu" (a gynecological stasis condition) in women, five types of strangury with white turbidity, lower gastrointestinal bleeding, painful hematuria, and metrorrhagia in women.
Jue Cai (Pteridium aquilinum var. latiusculum), tastes sweet and slippery, and is of a cold nature. It primarily clears sudden high fever and promotes urination. It also assists in descending qi.
Shanhujiao (Litsea cubeba), tastes bitter and pungent, and is of a warm nature. It enters the Spleen and Kidney meridians. It treats facial cold pain, warms the waist and kidneys, and promotes sexual function. It treats impotence. Decocted in wine for consumption. It also resolves mercury toxicity.
Shanhujiao, has a pungent aroma and is of a strongly warm nature. It is non-toxic. It primarily directs qi downward, warms the middle jiao, removes blood stasis, eliminates wind-cold from the zang-fu organs, dispels deficiency-cold qi in the stomach, and also removes cold-dampness. It is most effective for cholera-like syndromes, vomiting, diarrhea, and muscle cramps.
