[Golden Vajra] (Jingangshu)
The color is greenish, the texture is brittle. It resembles a cactus but looks like a pestle, hence the name. The taste is bitter, and the nature is cold. It has slight toxicity.
It treats all types of erysipelas (Dan Du), monobloat (Dan Zhang Fu), water qi disorders (Shui Qi), and blood swellings (Xue Zhong). Burn it to ash, grind it into powder, and take it with cold water. One dose can resolve the condition; do not take in excess.
If used raw, its potency is as fierce as Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) and Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas). To neutralize its toxicity, placing both hands in cold water provides relief. In ethnic minority regions, it is called "Cold Water Golden Pill" (Lengshui Jindan).
Users must carefully assess deficiency or excess patterns; exercise caution!

Golden Vajra is most abundant in central Yunnan, where people use it to build walls. Its nature is cold. It promotes urination and defecation, resolves food stagnation in the chest, and dissipates palpable masses (Pi Kuai). Ethnic minority groups pound this herb with buckwheat flour to make pills. It treats Zangjie Wenbing (plague diseases caused by organ binding), and taking one pill induces purgation.
