The meridian of the Foot-Taiyang (Bladder) channel runs along the back. If suddenly invaded by Wind-Dampness, it will cause stiffness and pain in the spinal region; moxibustion on Shenzhu (GV12) is suitable for recovery.
Shenzhu (See Cough.)
Pain in the hypochondrium on the left indicates pathogenic invasion of the Liver channel; pain on the right indicates Liver pathogen entering the Lung. Moxibustion on Linqi (GB41) is suitable for cure.
Linqi (Located directly above the center of both eyes, entering the hairline by 5 fen, in the depression.)
There are four types of lower back pain, which should be treated with moxibustion according to differentiation. If caused by excessive sexual activity leading to Kidney deficiency, moxibustion on Shenshu (BL23) should be applied. If caused by a sudden stumble or sprain, moxibustion on Qihai (CV6) should be applied. If caused by injury from carrying heavy loads, resulting in inability to turn or shift the body, moxibustion on Huantiao (GB30) should be applied. If caused by Damp-heat pouring downward, resulting in inability to bend forward or backward, moxibustion on Yaoshu (DU19) should be applied. If the pain radiates to the abdomen, moxibustion on Mingmen (GV4) will bring relief.

The book "Shengmo" states: When Kidney Qi is abundant, hearing is acute; when Kidney Qi is deficient and deteriorated, deafness occurs; when Kidney Qi is insufficient, tinnitus occurs; when Kidney Qi is stagnant and generates heat, deafness occurs. The Classics state that the ear is the opening of the Kidney. For deafness due to Kidney deficiency, moxibustion on Shenshu (BL23) is suitable; for tinnitus, moxibustion on Fengchi (GB20) is suitable. For initial cases, moxibustion on Baihui (GV20) first is correct.
Shenshu (See Bi Syndrome.)
Fengchi, Baihui (Both see Stroke.)
Ophthalmic treatment divides the eye into Five Wheels: the inner and outer canthi belong to the Heart, called the Blood Wheel; the cornea/pupil area belongs to the Liver, called the Wind Wheel; the upper and lower eyelids belong to the Spleen, called the Flesh Wheel; the sclera belongs to the Lung, called the Qi Wheel; the pupil belongs to the Kidney, called the Water Wheel. In essence, the Liver opens into the eyes, and the root of the disease lies in the Liver. For initial eye diseases, moxibustion on Baihui (GV20), Shangxing (GV23), and Shenting (GV24) is recommended. For chronic internal cataracts forming opacities, moxibustion on Linqi (GB41) should be applied. For blurred vision and inability to see clearly, moxibustion on Shenshu (BL23) is necessary.
