[Invention] Huoxiang Angwei San (Agastache Stomach-Anchoring Powder) treats loss of appetite and vomiting due to Spleen-Stomach Qi deficiency, where food is vomited before being properly digested.
Herbs: Huoxiang (Agasthis Rhizoma), Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos) (each 2.5 qian); Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) (5 qian).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the above herbs into a fine powder. Take 2 qian per dose, decoct with water, adding fresh ginger (Shengjiang, Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens).
Commentary: This formula consists of herbs belonging to the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian and the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian and Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian.

[Modification] Erchen Tang (Two-Cured Decoction) treats vomiting, vertigo, and palpitations caused by Phlegm-Fluid retention, or Spleen-Stomach disharmony due to consuming raw or cold foods.
Herbs: Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos) (1 liang); Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) (each 5 liang); Fuling (Poria), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (3 liang and 1.5 liang respectively).
Preparation and Administration: Coarsely crush the herbs. Take 4 qian per dose, decoct with water, adding fresh ginger (Shengjiang, Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), and take warm.
Commentary: This formula originates from the examples for vomiting and hiccups in Taiyin disease.

[Sanyin] Qumowan (Medicated Leaven Pill) treats retained food and fluid accumulation in the Zhongwan region (CV12), manifesting as acid regurgitation stabbing the heart pain and spitting clear saliva.
Herbs: Shenqu (Meditatio Mass) (stir-fried 3 liang); Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma) (soaked in rice washing water for three nights, washed clean, sun-dried, then stir-fried 1.5 liang); Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium) (1 liang).
Preparation and Administration: Grind the herbs into a powder. Separately decoct Shenqu (Meditatio Mass) with fresh ginger juice (Shengjiang Zhi, Ginger Juice) to make a paste for pill formation. Take the pills with warm ginger soup (Jiangtang, Ginger Decoction).
Commentary: This formula consists of herbs belonging to the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian and Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian.

Respectfully noted: Regarding various formulas for treating acid regurgitation, predecessors mostly treated it as a Cold pattern using Cold-natured medicines; these are not detailed here. As for medicines treating Heat patterns, since predecessors viewed this syndrome as Cold, there were absolutely no such formulas. However, methods such as resolving Phlegm, eliminating food stagnation, releasing exterior Cold, and treating Depressed Heat should be applied according to the specific syndrome.

The *Neijing* (Inner Canon) states: "All cases of neck stiffness and rigidity belong to Dampness." Wang Bing's commentary notes this is due to injury to the Taiyang channel by Dampness. It also states: "All sudden stiffness and rigidity belong to Wind." Wang Bing's commentary notes this is due to Yang Qi internal depression while Yin Qi moves externally.
Commentary: The Jingzheng (Spasm/Stiffness) mentioned in the *Neijing* involves the Lung, Kidney, Taiyang channel, Du Mai (Governing Vessel), and the Six Qi, all of which can cause it. Generally, it arises specifically from Dampness. Thus, *Yuanbing Shi* (Original Causes of Diseases) states: "All spasms and stiffness involve sinews that are strong, rigid, and lack flexibility." This is because the Earth element governs tranquility. Yin is termed flexible/soft, Yang is termed rigid/hard. When亢 (Excess/Overacting) occurs, it causes harm; when Cheng (Supporting/Restraining) occurs, balance is maintained. Therefore, excessive Dampness may seemingly combine with Wind transformation to restrain itself. However, this combined transformation is a false image (Xu Xiang), not true Wind. It also states: "All sudden stiffness and rigidity belong to Wind," referring to sinews that are strong and lack flexibility. The Metal element governs tightening, contraction, and urgency. Wind-Wood pathology manifests as Metal-like transformations, again due to the principle that excess leads to harm and restraint restores balance. Moreover, Wind can overcome Dampness and create Dryness. I propose that Earth nature is tranquil, while Wood nature is mobile. Spasm presents as stiff and tranquil, thus governed by Dampness; Wind disease presents as stiff with convulsions/tremors, thus belonging to Wind. Furthermore, below Earth Qi, Wood Qi overacts; therefore, the stiffness of spasm resembles Wind. Below Wood Qi, Metal Qi overacts; Metal's tightening and cutting nature is close to Earth; therefore, the stiffness of Wind resembles Dampness. Both have their primary transformation and false images, which must be carefully distinguished.

Furthermore, regarding the treatment of Wind in the *Bingji* (Pathogenesis): "All neck stiffness belongs to Dampness." Cold and Damp share the same nature; Water and Fire coexist. The Foot-Taiyang belongs to Water and is located inferiorly, so it is susceptible to Dampness injury. Its meridian descends to the neck, hence governing neck stiffness. If Taiyang exterior Wind pathogen combines with Dampness invading the meridian, internally harboring Cold-Damp, the sinews and vessels will cramp, leading to Jingzheng (spasm), with neck stiffness lacking flexibility. One must carefully distinguish between sweating and non-sweating conditions, employing methods to drain Dampness and expel Wind, slowly releasing the exterior for recovery. Stiffness attributed to Wind results from excessive vigor of Jueyin Wind-Wood. *Qianjin Fang* treats stiffness as Wind disease, using methods to drain Fire and tonify Metal, allowing Wood Qi to naturally level out. I believe this statement refers to neck stiffness caused by external invasion of Wind, Cold, and Dampness. Wind disease stiffness refers to Wind-Wood pathology originating internally.
