(See the original formula book for details.)
Note: The above formulas are all warming-stomach, drying-dampness, cold-phlegm-resolving, and interior-warming medicines. If phlegm has been stagnant for a long time and damp-heat is internally accumulated, taking these drying-hot medicines may lead to diseases such as acid regurgitation and dysphagia. Users must exercise caution.
Faming Banxia Wenfei Tang (Invention's Pinellia Lung-Warming Decoction): Treats cold-water phlegm and qi in the Zhongwan region, feeling of turbulence and acidity below the heart, excessive clear saliva, distension in the hypochondrium, and inability to eat. This is caused by cold deficiency of the stomach, presenting with a deep, wiry, thin, and slow pulse.
Xuanfuhua (Inula Flower), Xixin (Asarum), Guixin (Cinnamon Twig Heart), Renshen (Ginseng Root), Gancao (Licorice Root), Chenpi (Tangerine Peel), Jiegeng (Platycodon Root), Shaoyao (Peony Root), Banxia (Pinelliae Tuber) (each 0.5 liang), Chifuling (Red Poria, 3 fen).

Jufang Siqi Tang (Formulary's Four-Seven Decoction): Treats phlegm-saliva aggregation caused by emotional qi stagnation, manifesting as a sensation like a broken wad or a plum pit stuck in the throat, impossible to cough out or swallow. Grind the above ingredients into a powder, mix with ginger juice paste to make pills. Take 30 pills per dose, washed down with ginger decoction.
Note: The above three formulas use Nanxing and Banxia to overcome phlegm, combined with various qi-regulating herbs. This embodies Yan's principle that "regulating qi causes phlegm to descend." However, Zisu and Zhiqiao are lung qi-regulating herbs; Nongpo is a spleen-stomach qi-regulating herb; Xiangfu is a liver qi-regulating herb. They should be selected according to the qi functions of the respective zang-organs and cannot be used indiscriminately.
