Mizang Polue San (Secret Collection Blood-Breaking Powder): Treats injuries from falling off a horse, damaging the spinal bone, with evil blood flowing into the hypochondrium, causing severe pain and inability to turn or lie on one side.
Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Guizhi (Cinnamomi Ramulus) (each 1 qian), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructus), Danggui Shao (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, caudex portion), Shuizhi (Hirudo) (stir-fried until smoke disappears, then ground, each 2 qian), Shexiang (Moschus) (a small amount, separately ground). Another prescription includes Sumu (Daemonorops Spicifer) (1.5 qian).
Divide the above ingredients into two doses. For each dose, decoct two large cups of water with one cup of wine. Except for Shuizhi and Shexiang, grind the remaining herbs into a paste. Decoct to obtain one large cup of liquid, remove the dregs, heat slightly over fire, and mix in the two prepared ingredients. Take on an empty stomach.
Commentary: This formula utilizes herbs from the Taiyang (Greater Yang), Yangming (Yang Brightness), and Shaoyang (Lesser Yang) meridians.
Dilong San (Earthworm Powder): Treats lower back and spine pain, or pain resulting from falls from heights where evil blood remains in the Taiyang meridian, causing unbearable pain in the waist, spine, shins, or arms.
Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex), Dilong (Pheretima), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (each 1 qian), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix) (2 qian), Sumu (Daemonorops Spicifer) (6 fen), Mahuang (Ephedrae Herba) (0.5 qian), Taoren (Persicae Semen) (six pieces), Danggui Shao (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, caudex portion) (1 fen).
Grind the above ingredients. For each dose, use 5 qian, decoct with two cups of water until one cup remains, remove dregs, and take warm.
Commentary: This formula utilizes herbs from the Foot-Taiyang meridian.
Faming Ruxiang Shenyingsan (Invention Frankincense Divine Response Powder): Treats unbearable pain from falling from heights and abdominal pain.
Xiong Heidou (Black Soybean), Sangbaidi (Mori Cortex), Ruxiang (Olibanum), Moyao (Myrrha), Dukesunli (Castanea Chinensis), Pogu Zhi (Psoraleae Fructus) (stir-fried, 2 liang; others 1 liang each).
Grind into fine powder. For each dose, use 5 qian, decoct with one cup of vinegar in a clay pot until reduced to 0.6 parts, add a little Shexiang (Moschus), and take warm. Baojian adds Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) (1 liang) and Shuizhi (Hirudo) (stir-fried, 0.5 liang).
Shengling Dan (Holy Spirit Pill): Treats all types of bruises, fractures, and injuries with unbearable pain.
Ruxiang (Olibanum) (5 qian), Wumei (Mume Fructus) (five pieces, pitted), Baimi (Oryza Sativa) (one pinch, Mizang uses粟 Su), Wu Kuizi (Lactuca Sativa Seed) (one zhan, stir-fried yellow, 2 liang 8 qian).
Grind into fine powder, make pills with refined honey the size of bullet seeds. Take one pill per dose, chew thoroughly, and swallow with hot wine. If pain persists after one hour, take another pill.
Commentary: The above two formulas utilize herbs from the Shaoyin (Lesser Yin) meridian.
Sanjia Jiawei Xionglao Tang (Three Causes Modified Ligusticum and Ligusticum Wallichii Decoction): Treats vomiting of black blood due to traumatic injury causing败血 (damaged blood) to enter the stomach.
Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Baihe (Lilii Bulbus) (soaked for half a day), Jingjie Sui (Schizonepetae Spica) (equal parts).
Cut into small pieces. For each dose, use 4 qian, decoct with half water and half wine.
Yuanrong Jiawei Siwu Tang (Yuanrong Modified Four Substances Decoction): Treats injuries in deficient individuals who cannot tolerate purgative methods.
Siwu Tang (Four Substances Decoction) plus Chansanjia (Manis Squama), decocted and taken.
The above two formulas belong to the Jueyin (Terminal Yin) category. Together with the previous six formulas, they are all warm and neutral agents.
Jufang Huaruishi San (Bureau Formula Flower Porphyry Stone Powder): Treats knife wounds, bruises, dog/cat bites, or even death. Apply immediately to the wound; the blood turns into yellow fluid. For internal injury where blood enters the organs, decoct Tongzi Xiaoye (Boy's Urine), add a little wine, mix with 1 qian of powder, and take for immediate effect.
For postpartum women with evil blood rushing to the heart and retained placenta, mix 1 qian with boy's urine to expel evil matter for immediate effect.
Liuhuang (Sulfur, pure) (4 liang), Huaruishi (Flower Porphyry Stone) (1 jin).
Coarsely grind and mix the two ingredients evenly. Seal them in a jar using paper fibers and glue mud. Dry by baking, place on a square brick, draw Bagua (Eight Trigrams) and Five Elements characters around it, and burn with one cheng of charcoal starting at Wu hour (noon) until the fire extinguishes overnight. Wait another night for it to cool, then grind into extremely fine powder and store in a porcelain box.
Commentary: This formula utilizes sulfur according to the Jueyin category. Haizang stated that some use this decocted in boy's urine or mixed with wine; this contrasts with cold medicines regarding Yin and Yang, so it must be distinguished carefully.
Busun Danggui San (Tonify Losses Angelica Powder): Treats wrist fractures and arm breaks from falling off horses or carts, causing pain. Taking this medicine stops pain immediately and reconnects bones and tendons.
Zelan (Lycopus Lucidus), Fuzi (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata) (prepared, each 1 qian), Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) (stir-fried), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (roasted), Shujiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium) (stir-fried), Guixin (Cinnamomi Cortex) (each 0.5 qian), Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) (stir-fried, 0.6 qian).
Grind into fine powder. For each dose, use 2 qian, mix with warm wine, take three times daily. Avoid raw green onions, pork, cold water, and raw fruits.
Commentary: This formula utilizes herbs from the Shaoyin and Jueyin meridians. The above two formulas are both warm and hot agents.
