The *Huangdi Neijing* (Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon) states: "What causes the sudden pain of the five zang organs?" It is answered that when cold qi invades the vessels of the back-shu points, the blood vessels become stagnant. Stagnation of blood vessels leads to blood deficiency, and blood deficiency results in pain. Since the qi of the back-shu points connects to the heart, they mutually attract each other, causing pain. Pressing on the affected area brings warmth to it, and the pain ceases. If one is re-exposed to cold, the pain will persist for a long time.
The *Lingshu Jing* (Spiritual Pivot) states: The branch of the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Channel separates from the stomach, ascends through the diaphragm, and enters into the heart. When this channel undergoes pathological changes, symptoms include stiffness of the tongue, vomiting after eating, epigastric pain, abdominal distension, frequent choking, and urgent pain below the heart. Patients with stomach disease experience abdominal distension, epigastric pain centered behind the heart, upward support to both hypochondriac regions, and obstruction in the diaphragm and throat. Jue heartache is caused by cold evil invading the Pericardium. Zhen heartache is caused by cold evil injuring the Heart (the Monarch). Symptoms include cyanosis of the hands and feet extending to the joints; in severe cases, death occurs in the evening if onset is in the morning, or in the morning if onset is in the evening.
The *Maijing* (Pulse Classic) states: Worry, sorrow, and overthinking damage the Heart. Damage to the Heart leads to distress from sudden fright, forgetfulness, and irritability. In individuals with damaged Hearts, fatigue and exhaustion lead to redness of the head and face, heaviness in the lower body, and heart pain radiating to the back. The pulse is wiry, which is caused by injury to the Heart. Various types of pain caused by parasites manifest as heart and abdominal pain with restlessness. During attacks, masses gather and disperse, moving up and down, with intermittent pain. If there is heat in the heart and abdomen, thirst, salivation, fluctuating complexion (alternating between green, white, and red), and vomiting of clear fluid, these are signs of Ascaris biting. Treatment involves firmly pressing and holding the painful area with hands to prevent the parasite from moving, inserting a needle, retaining it for a long time until the parasite stops moving, and then withdrawing the needle.
