1. Heart-Kidney Non-Interaction (failure of Heart Fire and Kidney Water to interact), the Cun pulse on both hands is wiry and rapid, and the Chi pulse on both sides is choppy. *Ji Zhuan* states: A slow pulse at the left Cun indicates Heart Qi deficiency; a slightly slippery pulse at the right Cun indicates leakage of essence and qi.
2. Nocturnal emission and spermatorrhea, with both Cun and Chi pulses being slow and choppy. Heart-Kidney Non-Interaction leads to seminal emission during dreams due to lust, dissipating the True Yuan (Vital Essence), which is a sign of short life. It is also stated: A rapid Cun pulse and wiry Spleen pulse, with fine and rapid Chi pulses, indicate that essence has left its proper position. In young men, a slightly choppy left Chi pulse indicates injury from excessive sexual desire. *Zheng Chuan* states: Various Kou (hollow), Dong (moving), Wei (fine), and Jin (tight) pulses manifest as loss of essence in men and "ghost intercourse" (hallucinatory sexual experiences) in women. A short and small Heart pulse leads to nocturnal emission. A rapid Chi pulse indicates hyperactivity of Ministerial Fire causing emission.
3. Leakage of essence (insecurity of the Essence Gate leading to spontaneous emission), the right Chi pulse is weak and thin like a hair, Heavenly Essence (Kidney Essence) is unstable, cold semen flows out spontaneously, there is sticky discomfort at the urethral meatus, sexual intercourse duration is short, and infertility occurs.
4. Kidney Bi (obstruction of Kidney meridians), the Cun pulse is weak and choppy, and the Chi pulse is deep, fine, and rapid.
5. Night fever, the pulse is slightly wiry, deficient, and rapid, or deep or choppy, weak and fine.
6. Bone steaming (yin deficiency internal heat radiating from the bone marrow), the pulse is rapid and large, or slippery, urgent, hurried, fine, and rapid.
7. Dry cough, the left Cun pulse is choppy and rapid, and the right Cun pulse is large, urgent, and rapid.
8. Deficiency-phlegm cough, the pulse is soft, fine, and weak; the Qikou (right Cun) pulse is slightly fine and rapid, or slippery, large, and deficient.
9. Blood deficiency with phlegm-fire, the left Cun pulse is choppy and wiry-rapid, the right Cun pulse is deficient, large, and slippery, or rapid and choppy, and the Chi pulse is deficient and choppy. It is also stated: A fine and tight-rapid pulse; fineness indicates blood deficiency, rapidity indicates inevitable coughing, and tightness indicates cold. Because of blood deficiency, cold pathogens invade the Lung Meridian, transforming into heat, thus resulting in a rapid pulse and cough.
10. Cough with blood droplets in sputum, the right Cun pulse is slippery and rapid, or soggy and weak; this is the symptom of Jian Jue (collapse due to yin exhaustion and yang dispersion).
11. Cough with blood, the Cun pulse is rapid and large, or slippery and urgent; the Guan and Cun pulses are wiry and choppy; this is also Jian Jue.
12. Labor-induced cough with hematemesis, hemoptysis, emesis of blood, and spitting of blood, this belongs to Bo Jue (disorder of qi and blood counterflow). Pulses showing various Choppy (Se) and Soggy (Ru) types indicate loss of blood; a Kou (Hollow) pulse indicates blood loss; a Choppy (Se) pulse also indicates blood loss or stasis. For hematemesis and spitting of saliva-blood, a slow, small, and weak pulse indicates survival; a solid and large pulse indicates death. For spitting of saliva-blood, a firm and strong pulse indicates death; a soggy and slippery pulse indicates survival.
13. Transmitted Corpse Consumption (a contagious chronic consumptive disease), *Mai Jing* states: In healthy men, a slippery and large pulse indicates extreme labor/strain, and a deficient and choppy pulse also indicates consumption/labor.
14. A wiry and rapid Qikou pulse indicates Mai Wei (pulse flaccidity/limb weakness). *Mai Jue* states that a number and deficient-choppy Qikou pulse is the form of Fei Wei (lung flaccidity). (Suspected to be a miswriting for Fei Wei.)
15. Weak and soft pulses in all six positions indicate extreme deficiency of Yang Qi.
